  • More incredible than we could have dreamed

"Incredible isn't a big enough word to describe Casa Alvarado. This place is simply amazing! The pictures do not do the home justice. I can honestly say I have never had such a comfortable, relaxing, and enjoyable vacation. The owners are wonderful and really have thought of everything needed to make the home feel like a home. All the conveniences are there....and so much more. There were 12 of us during our 9 day stay...4 adults and 8 teenagers, and we never felt crowded....and certainly never bored. Between the snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, shell collecting, swimming, playing board & card games, doing puzzles, and simply relaxing there was something for every one....every day. We never even needed to leave the property. The snorkeling right outside your back door is so convenient. The water is clear and there were so many beautiful, colorful fish to see. We snorkeled for hours. The kids spent a lot of time in the kayaks tooling in and out of the rocks and just exploring the waters. We essentially had our own private beach. Carlos & Griselda were amazing...and so nice. Carlos came by every day to check on us. He brought us bottled water if we were running low, bags of ice for our drinks, he scheduled our catered meals, fishing trips, cooking classes, etc. Griselda kept the home clean and OH MY GRACIOUS! her cooking is amazing. I highly recommend having her cater some (or all) of your meals. The price is so reasonable especially considering we always had left overs for the next day. Griselda taught us how to cook some amazing authentic Mexican dishes. We all had so much fun laughing and learning. I can not say enough nice things about our stay at Casa Alvarado. Everything absolutely exceeded our expectations in every way possible. We were so sad to leave and are already talking about our next visit. We can't wait to come back."

  • Perfect for our family!!

"Everything was perfect for us during our stay at Jeff's house. We rented the guest unit downstairs so we didn't see the rest of the house - but I'm sure it is great. The beds were comfy - we slept great. Loved the outdoor shower - awesome water pressure! Great AC units in both bedrooms and kitchen - very necessary to sleep. There was snorkeling gear and boogie boards there to use. The house is one house away from the beach, which is perfect for swimming with small kids. The best part for us was the access to the Buena Vista Resort which is a 5 minute walk down the beach. The pool there is amazing - swim up bar where you can order food as well, hot tub, great service. Rocco the dog was a highlight too. He is SO sweet and our daughter loved him! Jeff was super accommodating - there were two huge bottles of water in the fridge for us when we arrived and he met us with a smile and an offer of anything we needed! The only drawback if I had to pick one is that the kitchen wasn't very well equipped - not really enough silverware/dishes for more than two or three people. We didn't need it as we had friends staying nearby and we either ate out or ate at their place every night. But for people who really want to cook in the kitchen, it could pose an issue. But other than that, everything was perfect! We will be back! Thanks Jeff!"

"For my 70th birthday month celebration, my wife and I were going to do another round trip of the Baja peninsula, but were choosing some different places to stay than on previous trips. We found a winner in Casa Dina. We had scheduled a week at Casa Dina and another week at our favorite little East Cape hotel, Rancho Leonero. As all of the other reviews suggest, this house has everything you could want in a vacation home...great house, wonderful beach, perfect host in Duke, a step back in time town with Los Barriles. The very best compliment and comment we can make is that after two days at Casa Dina, we called Rancho Leonero and cancelled our reservations ( losing our $650 deposit) and rented Casa Dina for another week. It was one of the best decisions we've ever made. We had a perfect time. Another couple flew down from San Diego to enjoy the good life with us, staying in the ideal guest quarters that Duke has provided. We snorkeled the little reef right in front, paddled the kayaks up and down the beach, floated in pool rafts in 82 degree water, watched every sunrise with hot coffee in hand, barbecued steaks on Duke's Weber gas grill, went to the restaurants that Duke suggested, fished on the panga that he recommended, swam in his beautiful pool, were invited ( and attended) his birthday party of 50 or so local friends, got our dog fix in everyday with gentle Gia, watched the fishing boat operations in beautiful Palmas Bay and RELAXED. Everything is just the way you want it with Casa Dina. We've rented other houses in East Cape and throughout the peninsula, but this is the hands down winner. We will be returning often to enjoy Duke and Casa should, too. Oh, and rent a car at the San Jose airport to increase your pleasure of enjoying the whole East Cape's cheaper than the RT van ride and very convenient."
