  • WOW! Truly a 5-star experience - Part III

"For Walmart, and town – just walk right outside the resort. There are local buses every 10 minutes or so…. 3 lines, but each of them go to Walmart first and then to town before they do their full 1.5 hour loops. My 3 year old and I did the full loop once for fun. VERY bouncy so not for the queasy – and you need to be pretty adventurous because you go way out to the rural poor areas – but if you really want to see some non-tourist parts of Mexico, it’s an experience. You’ll need to take a taxi back/stand is right outside Walmart (or walk back from town which we did a few times --- just walk right by McDonald’s – yes you can never get too far away from “America” in tourist-Mexico! Fair is 12 pesos – or you pay with a $1 bill. Yes it bounces like crazy --- but it’s a 5 minute adventure. Walmart has EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING. Stock up and enjoy. They also sell Wine and Alcohol. There is a huge spirits store in the same complex – think “BevMo” with lots of selection --- and a nice food court with about 8 restaurants. We ate there a few times as part of our shopping – pretty much the best deal we found and delicious! We even came back to the Sushi restaurant (Koi Sushi) – which was recommended – and VERY good actually with really good prices too! You can walk into town and the Marina – along the road --- or the beach – but’s it a pretty good distance. Bus (see above) or taxi is better option. Also outside the property is an amazing bakery with cinnamon rolls. You’ll find another kiosk from this bakery just outside Walmart (pretzel rolls, etc.) but for the cinnamon, you have to go the main one. The Marina has high end shopping, lots of U.S. chain restaurants and shops like Haagen Daas, etc. and lots of great Mexican food. If you want to have fish therapy/fish pedicure, do it at the Paradiso Mall in the center court – it’s half the price of the Villa del Arco spa – but DO go into that spa and check it out --- wow – it’s supposedly the largest in Latin America and is just beautiful. Treatments are overpriced, but when in Rome…. When in town, go over and watch the cruise ships arrive and all the day tour operators jocky for business. Cacophony of craziness! Book a sport fishing charter, Scuba (or SNUBA which we did with my 7 year old who loved it) or Sea Trek which will be back operating soon/the area on the sea floor needed time for sand to rebuild after the Hurricane), swim with dolphins, ..."

  • Pedregal Paradise!

"We rented this house to celebrate our first anniversary with both of our parents. The house was absolutely beautiful and the pictures do not give it justice. The house was set up perfectly to give every couple their privacy and plenty of entertainment area to enjoy the vacation together. We spent a lot of time in the pool and hot tub taking in the beautiful view. The kitchen has everything you will need. The beds were very comfortable. We would highly recommend this house for your next vacation to Cabo. Thank you very much for sharing your beautiful home with us!"

  • The BEST resort at a great price

"This is the third time we've stayed at Estancia, and the second time at this unit. We have had the good fortune to stay at many great places, including five star hotels, and my wife and I both feel that this is the best place that we have ever stayed. Our particular unit is the least expensive one that I could find anywhere in this complex, and the owner Rick is very helpful and usually quick to respond to any questions or concerns. I like being on the ground floor for ease of access, but the higher floors have somewhat nicer views. All of the units in this complex are beautiful, with views of the ocean and Los Arcos. The rooms are very spacious, and having the second bedroom attached but separate is very nice for privacy from/for our kids. With many excellent restaurants, pools, and bars between the three complexes (Palmar and Arco ar the other two - less expensive but not quite as elegant), you don't ever have to leave. Downtown Cabo is a brief cab ride or about a 20-30 minute walk along the beach, with endless other activities to do and see. We will definitely keep coming back!"

  • Another Excellent Cabo - La Estancia Vacation

"This was our 2nd trip to Cabo & our 2nd time staying at Villa La Estancia. This ground floor villa was perfect. Walk right off the patio and onto the poor or the beach. The villa, the facilities, the service was amazing, but most importantly the staff is what makes this place a true 5 star resort. They will go above, beyond & totally out of the way to accommodate & assist you and always with a smile, We rented directly from the owner. He was very easy to work with. His emails & responses were very quick, direct & informative. This 2 bedroom villa was the perfect fit for my wife & I and our 2 teenage sons. This villa is a great fit for families. We had a grill on the patio which we made use of. We normally will cook 2-3 meals in and the rest of the time head down the beach or into town for breakfast , lunch or dinner. Along the beach I would recommend Tobasco's or The Office. Both have great breakfast & lunches. In town - Claros Jr , this is a hole in the wall taco stand with great food & prices. You can get a smoked marlin taco, a shrimp taco (with 5 pieces of shrimp) & a sea bass taco with a bottle of coke for about $5 us. Maros is a favorite. Steak, lobster & shrimp for $16.95 us plus this is a fun lively atmosphere. Want Italian with a Mediterranean flare, Invita Bistro is fantastic, more upscale though. You, really, do not need to rent a car if you are spending your time on the beach or in town. Cab ride is $9, bus is $1/person, water taxi is $5/person- but you can sometimes negotiate this down to $10 for the ride for 4 people. I would recommend the water taxis for going to The Office or the marina if you can get it for $10. The bus system is an adventure in its self. It picks you up right outside the property & will take you to Wal-mart or into town for only $1. If your going to Wal-mart I recommend taking a taxi back, easier than lugging all your groceries/items to & off of the bus. Plus, I've found at Wal-mart to be some of the best deals on excursions & activities. Not the store itself but a corner kiosk by the exit. These guys will try and sell you on taking a time share tour of the 2 properties on either side of Estancia (I do not recommend that- don't be fooled will actually take 3 hrs of your time-no matter what they tell you) but they have great connections with some of the activities as long as you are good at negotiating.
