  • GREAT PLACE

"David and Rebecca did a wonderful job creating the perfect Baja getaway! The 4 casitas were quiet with a really nice pool. It is like a small private resort. There were only 2 of us but it was well worth having a larger place equipped with everything we needed, although we didn't cook much since there are so many awesome restaurants. Except for the night we ate the fish I caught off the beach, a 10 min. walk away. Caught enough to share, David fileted them and Rebecca fried them up - Delicious! Get a 4-wheeler, it is the best way to get around, you can take them anywhere. Even though it is only a 30 min. walk to town and there is a cool local gringo bar less then a 5 min. walk (Los Pescadores) with excellent food and a great margarita. One of the best things was meeting David & Rebecca (Missy too). David had smart ideas for our Mexican house and because of them we won't need a guest house since our family and friends will now be staying at Las Bougan Villas!"

  • Amazing little casita!!

"This was our first vrbo experience! Felt very comfortable dealing with our host, and look forward to another stay....maybe next time in the main house, which is beautiful, roomy, great view, but both together are on lovely property with Jose' care to see to it that you are in good hands! Overall, a fantastic time!"

  • More incredible than we could have dreamed

"Incredible isn't a big enough word to describe Casa Alvarado. This place is simply amazing! The pictures do not do the home justice. I can honestly say I have never had such a comfortable, relaxing, and enjoyable vacation. The owners are wonderful and really have thought of everything needed to make the home feel like a home. All the conveniences are there....and so much more. There were 12 of us during our 9 day stay...4 adults and 8 teenagers, and we never felt crowded....and certainly never bored. Between the snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, shell collecting, swimming, playing board & card games, doing puzzles, and simply relaxing there was something for every one....every day. We never even needed to leave the property. The snorkeling right outside your back door is so convenient. The water is clear and there were so many beautiful, colorful fish to see. We snorkeled for hours. The kids spent a lot of time in the kayaks tooling in and out of the rocks and just exploring the waters. We essentially had our own private beach. Carlos & Griselda were amazing...and so nice. Carlos came by every day to check on us. He brought us bottled water if we were running low, bags of ice for our drinks, he scheduled our catered meals, fishing trips, cooking classes, etc. Griselda kept the home clean and OH MY GRACIOUS! her cooking is amazing. I highly recommend having her cater some (or all) of your meals. The price is so reasonable especially considering we always had left overs for the next day. Griselda taught us how to cook some amazing authentic Mexican dishes. We all had so much fun laughing and learning. I can not say enough nice things about our stay at Casa Alvarado. Everything absolutely exceeded our expectations in every way possible. We were so sad to leave and are already talking about our next visit. We can't wait to come back."

  • Amazing

"We had the pleasure of staying in the casita for two weeks in May. There are so many good things to say about it, I'll do my best to summarize. First of all the access to the water is unbelievable. If you are like us and just love the ocean and all it has to offer, this is ideal. It is a 4 minute walk, down a dirt road to the crystal blue waters of the Sea of Cortez. I would start my day with a morning swim along the coast, and as I swam along, I saw all kinds of fish as well as rays, it was unbelievable. There are two small reefs right off the beach that are great for snorkeling. One of the highlights was the leaping Mobula Rays, which you can watch from the balcony on the casita or up close an personal in a kayak. Having access to the kayaks was wonderful, we were able to paddle up and down the beach, finding different places to explore as well as paddling out and watching the leaping Mobula Ray show. The town of Los Barilles is wonderful, very low key and peaceful, with many good restaurants. Our two favorites were Piscis (next to Chapitos back alley parking area) and Cafe Maria (a bit tricky to locate, but there is a review on trip adviser that gives directions). We rented ATV's from Quadman and had great experiences exploring the arroyos and traveling along the road to Punta Pescadero (which has amazing snorkeling). Also took a trip to Cabo Pulmo for a dive adventure. Dove with Cabo Pulmo Diving (Pilu is wondeful), which was fantastic. Other than that, you can enjoy the solitude Los Barilles has to offer, it was a memorable and relaxing two week stay."
