  • Great place for fishermen

"Four of us were headed to Loreto for spearfishing and I figured we'd give this house a try. It's a short drive to the marina, markets and downtown. We didn't make full use of the pool, etc., since we were in the water all day to begin with, but the house and location couldn't be beat. Our panga dropped us off on the beach outside the house every day when we returned so we could just walk our gear up the beach and onto the patio to rinse it off. It didn't hurt that on our last day Mike shot a world record Triggerfish, which we weighed and measured on the patio by the fireplace. The view from the upstairs terrace is terrific, the kitchen is nicely functional. The freezer compartment of the refrigerator was big enough to hold all the fish we shot, which was important to us. Our only regret is that the weather was so good that we went out on a boat every day and didn't have a chance to go kayaking. The layout is a little confusing since the upstairs and downstairs are completely separate, but that wasn't really a problem since we spent most of our time outdoors anyway. The shaded patio was well furnished for hanging out after a long day. Teresita, the local manager, was efficient and helpful and owners Ron and Michelle are friendly and clearly working hard to make sure that their guests enjoy their stay at Villa de Fiebre Mar. The TV and internet were spotty, but hey - it's Mexico, right? Teresita did get someone out to fix it as soon as we got around to telling her about it. (We didn't come to Loreto to watch TV.) This worked great for our fishing trip, but there is plenty available in the house and in Loreto and the surrounding area for groups with other interests."

  • Our new favorite place!

"My wife, myself, my two sisters and one life-friend stayed here for two weeks. We have been all over Mexico and wanted to try a non-touristy place, on the water, as a change. First off, we fell in love with Loreto right off the bat, as you feel so at home here! When we got to the house Jeff greeted us, and made us feel like family! The size of the house was more than roomy for all five of us and accommodated us perfectly, three bedrooms and three bathrooms. We were all very impressed with how comfortable the beds were! (something you don't get everywhere) As the days went on I had conversations with my family about how staying here felt so at home, almost like one of our own homes. We used the kitchen a lot and found it to be well stocked. We did two fishing trips with Jorge (recommended by Jeff) and caught a lot of fish on both trips! We had fresh fish almost every night! We also gave a lot of fish to Jorge to give to families. We did a lot of snorkeling using Jorge and his family. We primarily came to the Sea of Cortes for the snorkeling, as other places we have traveled, we have had visibility or rough water issues. Not here! This house has a huge garage attached with all the accessories you will need. Kayaks, bicycles, snorkeling gear, life vests and a great fish cleaning station ( Jorge is a master at filleting, no bones in any of our fillets). Letichia the house cleaner was as sweet as she was thorough in her cleaning! Jorge's daughter, Heidi, is a Massage Therapist who came to the house and did massages for us, very relaxing!! The views from this house are great especially the sunrises over the Sea of Cortes, and at times can include horses grazing in a field. This house is an authentic but very comfortable property! Although we rented a car (because we like to be mobile) you don't need one. The Deli, the "Gringo Market" and all the restaurants that Jeff and Linda recommended, were all great!! We did a lot on this trip and found that fishing and snorkeling was half the cost of Cabo and others. We were told that Loreto would be like Cabo was years ago before overpopulated and that is so true! Jeff and Linda were at our beckon call the whole time. A simple text to them for anything got a quick response! Same with Leticia! This is truly a great place in a great town with great people and plenty of affordable things to do!! We will be back and I speak for my whole family who shared this great experience!! Thank You sooo much Jeff and Linda!!!"

  • Clean, comfortable escape from reality

"We spent only a few days at this property in Loreto and wished it could have been longer. We arrived unprepared (without an address--our fault!), but the security office was incredibly helpful, going so far as to bring us to the casa. All of the workers were exceptionally friendly, as were other guests/residents. The casa is beautiful and very well maintained; most importantly, it was clean--everywhere. The kitchen is equipped with everything from toaster to blender and coffee/espresso makers. We enjoyed the lovely patio that is private in a courtyard-like setting; we didn't use the rooftop patio as it gets complete sun and is less private, but both patios are furnished with comfortable seating. Having two bathrooms, both with showers, was great. The beach is a short walk away and wasn't crowded, though it was quite windy when we were there. The village does have decent restaurants/cafes. We were glad to have rented a car (though that was an ordeal at the airport, despite having a reservation) so that we could explore Loreto and drive up the coast, but there are no other towns nearby to visit. This would be the only word of caution about Loreto: you are quite restricted in terms of things to do unless you're a golfer, and if the weather is windy, as is often the case, you're a bit stuck. The community seems to be largely made up of retirees and their guests, so don't expect to experience Mexican culture. This is a very pretty escape from reality."

  • Perfect beachfront home in perfect location

"We just loved this house, the owners, the location, Loreto.... I could just go on and on. The owner, Paula, was incredibly responsive on all of my questions about the house, the town, and what we should do in Loreto. We booked months in advance and when time came closer, she helped me set up the perfect vacation including where to rent boats, with whom to go fishing, which restaurants serve the best tacos. By the time we arrived I felt like I had a new friend. She and her husband took so much time to acquaint us to the area, even leading us to a restaurant for lunch (we arrived with 3 hungry kids.) Although Paula and her husband flew out the morning after we arrived, we were set to have the best vacation thanks in large part to all the preparation she made for us. Now about the house, it is recently built, well stocked, and comfortable. We felt right at home. We rented kayaks and paddle boards and went out every morning for a paddle. There are bikes if you choose to use them. The location is right in town so you can hear fishing boats come and go from the beach nearby. We rented boats on two days and HIGHLY recommend it. ONe day we had a boat take us over to Coronado Island and we traveled with an enormous school, herd really!, of dolphins. We saw sealions, rays, pelicans and even blue-footed boobys, then of course there was the white sand of Coronado. So fun! Another day we went fishing and actually caught a couple fish. Fun again! Loreto itself is a great little town with more good restaurants than we could visit in a week. If you have read this entire review, just go, just rent this house. You want to. It's going to be great. If we manage to go back, and we plan to, I know where we will stay:)"
