"This was our 2nd visit to Sampaguita and our first stay in Villa # 9. We vacationed here in November 2016 (my wife & myself), our adult son and his family (total of 4 adults+3 small kids). Sampaguita is a very nice, very quiet, gated community of 14 privately owned villas. If you enjoy peace & quiet, away from the 'madding crowd', this is for you. The grounds are pretty and nicely landscaped. The location, right on the beach and also close to good shopping, is excellent. There is a nice heated pool complex including a kiddy pool, and there is a gas fired fire-pit. Children under 5 are not permitted in the Hot Tub. The weather in this area of Mexico is virtually guaranteed to be sunny and warm most of the year - very little rainfall, as evidenced by the regional arid desert areas. San Jose (location of the modern airport for the Cabo region) is a nice, 'gringo-friendly' city and prices for food (especially fruit, vegetables and seafood) were very reasonable. There are many restaurants in the area. We find the more authentic restaurants patronized by Mexicans to provide better value. Try the small food court at the San Jose city market. Amazing service and fantastic food at a bargain price. There is a Costco about 30 kms down the coast in Cabo San Lucas and a Walmart in San Jose. The nearby La Conner supermarket is very good, and the Soriana supermarket up town is also worth a visit (better prices). There is a frequent city bus service, but we always rent a car at the Airport. We recommend using local currency which can be obtained in bank machines at the La Conner Supermarket. Villa # 9 lived up to the VRBO description - comfortable, clean, well equipped and well appointed. The Canadian owners were most accommodating and the on-site property managers (Mark & his wife) were very responsive and helpful. This villa includes a good selection of beach equipment, including boogie boards. The adjacent sandy beach was virtually deserted and the ocean was very warm in November (about 84 F). Although the fairly heavy surf and undertow may be an issue for some, our grandkids (in life jackets) had a real blast riding boogie boards or splashing in the crashing surf. There are several accessible more sheltered beach areas (with reefs) toward Cabo where snorkeling is quite good. In summary, great facilities, great location and sun, sun, sun! We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and relatives."
