  • Beautiful View

"We stayed at Manuels for a week in November. He was a great host we hadn't rented a car yet so he picked us up at the bus station and took us to the grocery store to pick up some food. Very clean condo with beautiful views of the ocean. It's not too bad of a walk into town, maybe about 25 min into the centre of the Malecon but the walk back up the hill is a little tiring after having a few cevezas down on the Malecon. I would recommend having a car in La Paz there is secured parking at the condo and you are free to explore much more of the city. It is also nice having a good owner like Manuel to deal with. I would stay there again next time we visited."

  • perfect birthday presence

"My friends and I just got back from celebrating a pair of birthdays during a magical week in the lovely Casa de los Abuellos. With its two full bathrooms, the casita is perfect for two couples or a family. We cooked many meals in the shared kitchen with fresh groceries from the nearby stores and farmer's stand, which even had fresh chicken and eggs! The four-legged Cody, Diana and Apolo are an adoring and constant presence. If not for them, we wouldn't have discovered the enormous roof deck on which we fell asleep most nights under a star-filled sky. The small pool is soothingly warm by late morning. The walk into town is pleasant and full of interesting sights; you can break it up with a stop at La Esquina. Hugo is dependably sweet and very helpful. While we never did meet Anjelica while we were there, we certainly felt her presence in the casa's impressive cleanliness. There are things to be aware of (though these are far from a complaint): this is rustic living, and as such, there's a limited supply of potable water. Be prepared to buy water, or bring your own purifier to cut down on the plastic. The horses are gone, and the nearest beach is impossible to swim in, but the waves are savagely beautiful. If you're finding your way for the first time, just follow the signs for Sole Caliente; you'll see the Rancho on your left. When you get there, it's too easy to just want to hang around the rancho staring at the hooded orioles and magnificent frigatebirds. Bring binoculars. Bring watercolors. Bring your best camera. And leave your stress behind."

  • A wonderful family getaway

"Our party of five, with two young children (3 & 5) stayed in the large main house for three nights. It was a wonderful place to stay for a family vacation. It is right on a beautiful, isolated beach, but is minutes from town. There were two bedrooms downstairs, and two upstairs, each with its own bathroom. The main house has a pool just steps from the front porch. You can hear the waves crashing as you fall asleep at night. The kitchen is well-equipped, and there is a washer and dryer behind the main house. There is a tennis court on the property as well. Marilyn greeted us warmly and was easily available if we had any questions. There were other parties staying on the property, who we saw only infrequently, but every casita is far enough removed that we never heard anyone. We already planning a return trip with our extended family and couldn't think of a better place for everyone to stay."

  • Very pleasant place to stay in Loretto

"A nice property in a nice, gated development. The property was clean and well maintained and as described. The owner was very helpful. In particular he sent a great tip sheet with favorite restaurants, ATM locations, details about the home, and so on. There is a big grocery store close by. We stayed here without a car and it worked easily. You can walk anywhere in Loreto. Mi Loreto, a restaurant a few blocks away was amazing."
