  • Perfect family vacation!

    Erin E.

"We stayed at Villa Encantada in late December 2016. It was the *perfect* family vacation. There were 10 of us total (parents and children ages 10 - 17). First, the house: This house is perfectly suited for a group like ours. Two of the bedrooms are casitas with separate entrances, both with their own kitchenettes / coffee makers (a teenager's dream!) The bedrooms were beautiful and bright-both masters have either a balcony or patio--perfect for early morning coffee with the sunrise. The house has a wonderful open feel -huge dining room table for meals, games, and puzzles. The kitchen is very well-stocked, even for the pickiest of chefs (which we had with us. She had actually contemplated bringing her own knives!) and was pleasantly surprised to find that the house had not one but two sets of great, sharp knives. Plenty of pots & pans, silverware, serving utensils - never any drama cooking whatever we had planned. Next: the property. WOW! The house sits directly on a beautiful, 'swimmable' beach accessed by a short spiral staircase. There were beach chairs & an umbrella for our use and we spent a fair amount of time on the beach. Even in December, the water and air temps were perfect! There is a wreck dive directly off shore that we were able to snorkel! An easy swim, even for the 10-year old. Most of our time was spent in the pool! It's a gorgeous infinity-edge pool with a jacuzzi. The lounge chairs and deck umbrellas are moveable & we spent most of our days lazing around with our books or a deck of cards. A very quick walk through the gated community lands you at a *fantastic* restaurant called Buzzards. The food is absolutely incredible - a casual, sand-is-the floor, very welcoming atmosphere, which I highly recommend trying at least once during your stay! (They are closed for hurricane season, so check first to make sure they're open!) Lastly, the service: The property manager, Cristal, met us at the house on arrival and spent an hour walking us through the property explaining all of the systems (air conditioning, lighting, fans, TV/DVD, Wifi, pool controls etc.) She left her personal cell phone number and was very responsive to any & all needs or wishes we had. She arranged a taxi for us to help collect a car we had borrowed, so that we knew in advance what we would be paying and would not be taken advantage of. The maids came at 10am daily & did a great job. Very professional & so friendly! I highly recommend this property. You will LOVE it!"

  • Quiet Retreat

    Shirley & Bob Gautreau

"We stayed here for two weeks and enjoyed the property very much. The little ferry boat was always on time and only takes 10 mins. to the mainland. It is a nice place to stay because it is very quiet and away from the bustle but easy access to all the restaurants and activity. The restaurant on the property is very good as well. We had a beautiful view of the water and grounds and a very large 2 bedroom unit. The property managers are very helpful and always there to attend to any needs you may have. It is also very convenient to have the local phone which is provided in the rental. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. I would recommend staying here and if we ever return to La Paz we would stay here again."

  • Comfortable home in wonderful location

    Elle

"We enjoyed our stay at Casa de Alhaja very much. It is a great house with a lovely view and perfect access to the beach. It is a peaceful place, secluded but not too isolated. It is clean and well stocked. Lots of pots and pans, cleaning supplies, towels etc. The manager, Debbie, lives right across the dirt road. She was informative, helpful, and meets you at the house to answer all questions and make suggestions. If you need anything, it is taken care of right away. Barb, the owner, was also available (prior to our trip) to answer our questions. We appreciated the slow pace, friendly people and delicious food. We loved Baja Beans, Hierbabuena (farm to table restaurant), and Taqueria Los Poblanos right in Pescadero. A highlight was the dog surfing competition at Cerritos Beach...what fun! We ate in Todos Santos at Hotel California and at "Restaurant & Gallery "(not sure of the real name). Both wonderful in different ways. We were delighted by the artisan boutiques, art galleries, and spent an afternoon with artist Nanette Hayles at her home in Todos Santos doing collages. Very cool! We traveled to La Paz & visited the new whale museum, and walked along the Malecon. It borders the stunning Sea of Cortez. From there, we drove to Balandra beach, a very unique landscape with warm, turquoise water, surrounded by the brown desert hills. We relished lots of downtime, too. It was a memorable and lovely vacation. We would recommend this type of house, setting, and vacation to people who like to be off the beaten path, who like a slower paced vacation, who are a bit adventurous and don't mind NOT HAVING the crowds, typical tourists amenities, and excitement of the bigger resort cities."
