  • Enchanting mountain home

"Set in the low mountains overlooking the valley where Guanajuato is nestled, this architectural original by celebrated Mexican architect, Manuel Parra is delight to stay in. The rooms admit day and night skies and city lights via large windows. Desert vegetation abounds naturally below and is painstakingly cultivated on the property. There is ample room to spread out and have privacy. The furnishings are traditional, comfortable, and inviting. There are patios at different levels, fountains and look-outs. The staff live separately on the property and take good care of it daily. They are warm, eager to please but not intrusive. The town is a 10 minute bus ride in from a five minute walk to the stop, and on the road to nearby villages and local sights. The house has been owned and lived in by three generations of one family and has the intimacy of a family home rather than a cookie cutter BB for tourists. I agree with the other reviews in their praise of this wonderful find!"

  • An amazing unique experience

"We have traveled in Mexico extensively and lived in Guanajuato for a year some time ago. When we return, we will have our eyes on this place. It is not hyperbole to say this was a magical home. Guanajuato is an amazing town and this home added to the experience in real ways. We would stay there again in a heartbeat."

  • Clean and comfortable

"Buzz and Maria are very welcoming and easy to like. The hike up up to the room was refreshing. My husband an are in our sixties and had no trouble. The neighborhood just below has great restaurants , stores and bus stop for quick ride into town center. The room has a private bath, entrance and small kitchen. Bed was very comfortable. As this location is on the edge of town the bustle of the city is gone, however animal sounds do occur"

  • Centrally located in a working class neighbourhood

"The booking process went very smoothly with the owner. When we arrived at the apartment, we went through a bit of a culture shock and wondered if we had made the right rental choice. We called Susan and she was very good and explained that the neighbourhood was very safe. We took her word for it and were glad. Within hours we were comfortable in the area and appreciated the true cultural experience. The apartment is just the way you see in the pictures. Very clean, comfortable and modern. Soap, shampoo, conditioner and drinking water is supplied - wow! The highlight was the rooftop patio - Susan has done a wonderful job and the views of the city are spectacular from here. We spent many hours here. What you need to know - apartment is located above a bar, so music can be an issue for some - did not bother us. Also if you rent the lower apartments - rumba and tango, your view is a wall or other rooftops. Try and rent the higher apartments if you want the city view. 10 minutes walk to the Mega store and 20 minutes walk to Centro to see all the sites. My daughter said - "how do you find these wonderful apartments mom" - high praise from a teenage."
