  • A charming place to stay

"My friend and I stayed at Casa Caracol at the end of May and early June. It is beautifully situated in the center of town. Shopping, attactions, entertainment all within walking distance. The apartment is well equipped and the beds are comfortable. No need for airconditioning as the windows open at night allow a cool breeze. The rooftop was comfortable to sit during the day or night. Wifi is fast and we had no problem keeping touch with family members at home. The owners Marie and Dean are lovely people who took care of any requests. I will definitely consider staying with them again my next visit to Guanajuato."

  • Our 4th Different Guanajuato Home Rental

"Guanajuato is one of our favorite vacation destinations. As we often travel with close friends, renting a private residence allows us to socialize and get the most out of our trip. The owners were extremely responsive and helpful in answering all of our questions. As one couple in our group had never been to Mexico, they had many questions. After answering many emails, the owner suggested a conversation as to most completely answer all of their questions (and some travel concerns). Then, as luck would have it, our flight ended up arriving a couple of hours late. Upon landing we called the property manager....what a great guy.....and he made us immediately feel at ease that he would meet us and get us all settled in at the home. The home was as advertised; large, spacious, modern mexico and very hard couches! Unfortunately, from some of our other Guanajuato rentals....this is not always the case. The fact that this is truly a stand alone home, it provided for great light and breezes in every room.... Thanks again to the property manager for getting a special jacket back to me that we left behind. We highly recommend this property....unless of course, you end up with dates we"

  • About the most central place to be found in Guanajuato!

"If you haven't been to Guanajuato, by all means go. And stay here! Gto is a wonderful city, a mix of cultures and architecture and history that should be experienced. This was the perfect base to explore this UNESCO World Heritage city. Just across the main street is my favorite, Plaza San Fernando, with its huge shade trees, fountain and alfresco cafes. Mercado Hidalgo is just up the street (best place to buy fresh avocados, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeno, and onion and make a guacamole snack. It's close to pretty much everything, including Union Garden. The house itself is classic Gto, but nicely remodeled and updated. The living area is clean, comfortable and well furnished. It is dark even with the shutters open, as are most of the houses in Gto. I'd recommend brighter lamps, but we spent very little time there--there's too much else to do, and the terrace is spectacular. The three bathrooms are very usable. The kitchen is complete, but honestly, we didn't use it at all. There's too much to experience in the city, and the exchange rate is favorable for dollars, so eating out is pretty cheap. The reading area is wonderful and opens to the city. I wish the couch fit more than 2 people. The bed in the reading area is really best for kids, or people willing to forego privacy and scrunch up. It's pretty small and low to the ground, but reportedly comfortable. The other bedrooms were comfortable and well sized (wish there were a queen bed or two, but the two doubles were workable), and the king master bedroom was huge. The terraces are where this house really shines. There is no need to be inside when you can be on top of the world. The patio always had shade, and was just delightful. Coffee and a book in the morning or a frosty beverage in the evening was wonderful. The stairs up were very steep, but backing down them felt safe and secure. I'd recommend arranging transportation with Beatriz, as she can get you right to the front door. Gto is a maze that airport taxis just can't seem to navigate. We took a van from the airport and had to haul our luggage up from the main street. It's not that far, but it is fairly steep and at 6500 feet elevation, we huffed and puffed each time we climbed up the callejons. Gto is a walking city, so bring comfortable footwear. And yes, this is in an urban location, so be prepared for some noise. We adapted quickly to the background noise of a vibrant city and slept just fine. I'd highly recommend this place"

  • Perfect

"This house was quiet, clean and private. It was clean and had all of the necessary amenities. The only thing we wish it had was a breezeway between the bedroom and the kitchen/bathroom. We were there for 4 weeks to learn Spanish. While the walk to town was about 20-25 minutes, it was a pleasant way to start every morning. If your not heading into town, there is plenty around La Presa. Don was very friendly and gave us our privacy. He was also helpful with local landmarks and places to eat. I'd recommend this to anyone staying in Guanajuato."
