  • Charming digs in the heart of historic SMA

"My wife and I arrived quite late in the evening after a long day of travel. No chance to get groceries, but no matter. The essentials were provided and we were asleep in our comfortable bed in a matter of minutes. Next morning we noticed a fabulous bouquet of lilies and other delicious flowers on the coffee table filling the room with a glorious scent and putting us on notice that our host wanted us to enjoy her home. Our ten day stay was partly for work and partly for fun. It was a great location for both the meetings we had to attend and the restaurants and entertainment venues that abound in SMA. One day an extremely heavy rain storm cancelled some of our plans but our host had provided very nice selection of current magazines and we found the casita to be a beautiful cozy place to spend the entire day. We will be returning to SMA and will look forward to staying at Melissa's Casa De La Divas again when we do."

  • Casa Madelan

"San Migel de Allende is a world heritage site and rightly so. It is a vibrant, colourful, historic and friendly city that is one of most economical vacation cities in the Americas. The local people are most hospitable, always eager to speak and help in any way. A car is not necessary as buses travel everywhere for very little fare and taxis are in abundance (some 375 in the city). Casa Madelan is very centrally located, north of the Jardin a few steps. The mercado (market) is two blocks away, a bountiful source for fruit, vegetables, flowers and meat. The house manager Erika was here to meet us on arrival and showed us around the house and has been most helpful for the month with her excellent command of English and all of San Miguel. Margarita the maid is very thorough and kept the house immaculate along with the gardener. The house is large, the master bedroom as big as some apartments in Anglo cities, with an enormous comfortable bed. On entering you are greeted with a large open area and the various rooms are to one side or upstairs off the large open deck. The casa sports a well equipped Mexican kitchen, ensuite bathrooms for each of the three bedrooms, filtered, safe water throughout and lots of hot water for the showers (a plus in some homes here). While we stayed TelMex installed an upgraded wi-fi modem which greatly improved download speeds etc. There are 4 gas fireplaces strategically placed in the home, which we had to use on occasion due to the extraordinary weather here this year. We had rain, and hail and there was snow in the mountains for a day or two, the first time in 35 years or so (El Nino?). In short Casa Madelan met and exceeded our expectations, and in no small measure contributed to another great vacation in a truly remarkable city and country. The owner has been most gracious, attentive and easily approachable, responding quickly to any correspondence, thank you Alan. Rick S."

  • Great stay at Casita Centro

"Casita Centro is the PERFECT venue to enjoy the best of SMA. Its location, just a block from the Jardin, is ideal. There are many wonderful restaurants in close proximity. Everything you need is at your fingertips! The owner, Lynn, is a delight to work with and she makes your stay easy. Transportation can be easily arranged for you, along with grocery delivery, if desired. The onsite washer/dryer is a real plus. The accommodations are are quite comfortable and all you need for a perfect stay in SMA. I highly recommend this property!"

  • Perfect Rental

"We spent eight days in this fantastic home with three generations under one roof. Nothing could have been better and as the English say the 'value for dollars' was amazing. We arrived to a huge cut flower display, i suppose from the adjacent flower stand. The plashing fountains, two levels of roof top deck with views forever… well tended plants and a well cleaned home with traditional tile floors. Cooking meals worked out well in the stocked kitchen--including traditional dish ware. There was plenty of room to spread out with two living rooms and huge dining area. The house has wonderful 'architectural interest'--the photos don't lie. The bedrooms are spacious and the en suite baths a bonus. The home is walking distance-- no thats wrong-- immediately adjacent to things as diverse as the huge Parque Juarez and the roof top dining at the Rosewood Hotel; to local supermarkets for the bottled water and milk run; to restaurants and shops; to the local Taco cart… and is perhaps four or five blocks to the Jardin and Parrochia at town center. The owner was very communicative and paid attention to details like making up one room as a king bed rather than two twins. The staff was unobtrusive and willing to be of further (negotiated) service. The home is on a gated cobble stone street behind a porte cochere, on a private courtyard covered with flowering vines--c'mon now, ¿whats not to like? We engaged the ** highly** recommendable SMARide for airport and day trips and they knew the location well. Do yourself a favor!"
