  • Perfect location; a lovely place to return "home to" after exploring SMA

"We (four 70 + year old women who LOVE traveling) just returned from SMA, having spent 8 glorious days at Casa Romantica. All of the lovely indoor and outdoor spaces at Casa Romantica gave us a true feeling of really being "away". We were captivated by the charm of our home away from home, and the magic of San Miguel de Allende! The owner's collection of local crafts and artwork is stunning. The lush gardens afforded us space, privacy and beauty, while the sunsets from the upper terraces were staggeringly beautiful. We might not have been able to walk up and down SMA's cobbled streets as fast as younger guests, but on the other hand, we managed to explore the entire Centro area and especially loved happening upon wedding parades and other fiestas in the streets. The weather was PERFECT - sunny - mid 70's during the day, and cool enough to appreciate down comforters at night. We were glad we took a day trip to Guanajuato. Other highlights: seeing/hearing guitarist Gil Guiterrez and his band at Casa Mia (at the Instituto de Allende) and visiting the Mask Museum. Irina's restaurant suggestions were spot on - and Luz, the Housekeeper, made us feel so welcome and comfortable. We loved her beautiful smile, her friendliness and attention to detail, and her fabulous home-cooked dinner. It was a privilege to get to know Luz. It was very hard to say goodbye to her and to Casa Romantica!"

  • What a view!

"By far, the best thing about this house is the view of the city from the rooftop terrace. We were in San Miguel for a week and each morning, several of us got up early, made a pot of coffee, and went up top to watch the sun come up over the city. Such a great way to start the day. Garita is a steep hill so the house is a bit of a trek to get to, but taxis are cheap in SMA. The house is a perfect set up for families or singles but not couples as all of the bedrooms (except the master) have single beds, but this was perfect for our travel group. It's in a secure neighborhood and positioned just so to catch the wind. The rooms have glass doors with a thick curtain to pull across for privacy. Most nights, we slept with the curtain pulled across and left the interior doors open. The only negative comment I would make about the house is the water pressure in the showers. It could use improving. But overall, we had a great time and really enjoyed our stay."

  • Wonderful place to stay!

"The condo is as beautiful in real life as in the pictures. The location is absolutely fabulous. There is an Italian restaurant around the corner where I wouldn't mind eating every day. We stayed for two weeks. The maid came three times during that time. Everything was always clean and delightful. The owner, Heather Hanley, was extremely friendly and helpful in directing us where to eat and shop. I would recommend this place to anyone."

  • A Gem in San Miguel de Allende

"This was my third visit to SMDA and the first time staying at this wonderful romantic spot in the heart of the Centro district. Cheryl was fantastic to deal with and I would highly recommend a stay at this suite. The bed and bedding just added to the stay, I slept like a baby! I look forward to my next visit - Sharon and Tom"
