  • Casa Lluvia Blanca - An Oasis of Tranquility

"Relox Street was bright, busy and hot. Like many of these streets, there are few pathways or driveways leading off to give one a glimpse of what lies behind. Solid gates and doors keep their secrets so well that it was with great anticipation that we opened our own “door-in-the-wall”. The immediate change in environment was almost a shock; it was so cool, dark and quiet. A narrow path with high walls covered in bourgainvillea and jasmine opened into the sescret garden where the path descended gently via a series of steps though a lush green environment of shrubs and trees. A little stream followed the path through a series of pools and falls and the overall impression was of a tiny virgin rain forest. The swimming pool, itself fed by running water, extends from this forest garden right up to the french windows of the house, effectively connecting the two elements. The house is tall and elegant. On stepping inside it is spacious, cool and bathed in light. At the centre of the ground floor is a little courtyard accessed on two sides by french windows from the house; with running water and flanked by tall bamboos it is the ideal place for a cool lunch on a hot day. The sense of space is accentuated by there apparently being no ceiling to the ground floor as the two en-suite areas on the first floor are connected by a glass sided walkway. The bedrooms have French widows leading onto little balconies which catch the breeze and all the essence of the garden. Up the stairs to the light and bright studio with its sophisticated sound and video system. At one end of the studio are French windows leading onto a terrace and the Jacuzzi. There is nothing quite like a bubbling jacuzzi, a bubbling glass of champagne and a roof-top view to give one a taste for high living! At the other end of the studio is another terrace from which a wrought iron spiral staircase takes you to the roof garden with spectacular 360 degree views of San Miguel, of its churches and magnificent buildings and beyond them, the hills and plains of Mexico. Although hot in the day-time, in the evening with the fire-bowl alight, it was magic. We have loved staying at Casa Lluvia Blanca. The house is beautiful; there is no better word for it. Stand still in any part of it and the constantly shifting shadows and light change the perspective of everything around you – and there are surprises around every corner! It is truly a house to fill all the senses."

  • Views and comfort

"We spent the month of January in San Miguel. We were welcomed immediately by Nicolas, who took care of anything that might have come up. The home has an amazing garden and views. It's comfortable and has everything that you might need for a stay in SMA. We ate, we drank, we walked everywhere and we lost weight! There is lots to see and do."

  • Una Casa Fabulosa!

"Casa Buena Ventura is a truly magnificent home. From the majestic living room, lovely gardens, colonial styled kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, and relaxing rooftop terrace, Casa Buena Ventura offered everything we imagined while staying in San Miguel de Allende. The local art in the home is stunning. Alicia, the gracious housekeeper and cook, provided delicious breakfasts and dinners. The location of the home is perfect for walking to many of San Miguel's restaurants and attractions. The home's owners were very accommodating before and during our trip, making sure that our every need was met. All six members of our group were amazed by the beauty and grandeur of this home. Casa Buena Ventura more than exceeded our expectations."
