  • Rustic luxury: Simple beds/baths, but huge & beautiful outdoor living area + the best view ever!

"I think rustic luxury is an apt description of this property. If you go in with the right expectations, this could be your best vacation ever. The photos don't lie about the infinity pool and view. It really was incredible! The pool water was a nice temperature. The beach chairs were comfortable and well maintained. Etc. I also loved the outdoor living area. It was huge with tons of seating and tasteful, traditional Mexican decor. The area was covered by tall palapas. Colorful tiles lined the stairs. Truly beautiful! The bedrooms and bathrooms were more simple and dated but adequate when it wasn't too hot. The beachside suite (down a long path with some stairs, quite far from the main house) didn't have A/C when we were there, and several of the overhead fans and one A/C unit in the home weren't functioning. Even in the bedrooms with functional A/C units and fans, the shutter windows and palapa roofs aren't perfectly sealed, so air did escape. As a result it was very hot and difficult to sleep on our hottest night--admittedly probably the hottest part of the year. However, on our less temperate night, ocean breezes plus the A/C and fans made it lovely. Some of the beds had mosquito nets, but I'd recommend bringing bug spray and maybe even citronella candles too. Expect mosquitos and other bugs, even inside. The housekeeper does a great job, but this is an older, traditional home. Steep cement stairs with no railing take you to a rocky beach--probably not somewhere you'd want to swim, at least not with kids. We went to look but didn't spend time there. We didn't visit the neighborhood's private beach but did drive a few minutes to the Las Hadas resort (day passes were about $35/person including drinks/beverages). We loved the idea of a private chef/house manager, and he did prepare a phenomenal ceviche! However, service wasn't quite what we'd hoped. For example, he scoffed when we asked for meals earlier than is customary in Mexico. Even after changing times at his request, meals arrived quite a bit later than agreed upon which was a little tricky since we were traveling with young children used to routines. Also, one evening we had a situation that we could have used help with but didn't know how to find or reach him. This certainly didn't ruin our trip -- it just wasn't the pampering we expected. All in all, we had a great stay at this beautiful, traditional Mexican home with one of the best views I've ever seen. I'd absolutely return!"

  • Absolutely Perfect Vacation House

"I don't know where to start with this absolutely perfect house... By far the nicest house in the Las Brisas Neighborhood of Manzanillo and well worth the Money for large groups. I am often Leary of renting homes I haven't seen in person before, but I could tell from the pictures on this site and the reviews people had written that this house was different. If you love falling asleep and waking up to the sound of waves crashing then this is the house for you. Michele, the owner of this property answered all my questions prior to our stay in a very timely manner. This put me at ease and I knew that it would be a great experience. She arranged for us to arrive a little earlier than their usual arrival time, this was helpful as we caught the red eye down to Colima airport from Tijuana. There is a lot to do in Manzanillo. We went deep sea fishing, checked out the Iguanario, we took a very fun snorkeling and booze cruise, we checked out nearby Cuyutlan which has a turtle and crocodile sanctuary. Besides that we lounged at the pool with cocktails and walked up and down the beach. There are lots of vendors on the beach that sell coconuts and other delicious snacks. All the locals in the area were nice and never once did we feel in danger or out of place as tourists. The staff that works at this house was very polite and friendly, they were respectful of our privacy in the morning and did a great job keeping the house clean. I am already missing Manzanillo and can't wait for my next trip. I can assure you that I will be staying at Casa Puesta del Sol!!! and yes in case you were wondering the name of the house is perfect, the sunsets are amazing. There is a very good reason why this house has all 5 star reviews. It quite simply put is the perfect vacation house!!!"

  • Perfect vacation!

"I can't say enough about how beautiful this place is, and how lovely our time spent there was. My family (husband, 3 children, grandparents) stayed here for a week and were very comfortable, with every wish being taken care of by the excellent staff. The views off the bedrooms and main living area are stunning, and there was always a gentle ocean breeze. Sunsets are amazing, enjoy the view from the beautiful infinity pool. The estate also has an amazing private beach, with it's own set of showers and pools, as well as a safe, inlet sand beach. We did a day trip to see a little town near an active volcano, and we also enjoyed the little restaurants around Manzanillo. But I agree with another reviewer, there is really no need to ever leave this beautiful home! We loved every minute and wished we could have stayed longer. Definitely hope to go back."

  • Great House & Location.

"We just returned from a 2 month stay in this lovely home in Barra De Navidad. This home is exactly as pictured. The kitchen is fully equipped, bed linens and towels were provided. The home is very secure and safe. The home has ceiling fans in every room and no AC is needed. There is always a nice breeze flowing through the home. The pool area is nice and very private. The home is in a very nice neighborhood and close to shopping and restaurants. Cathy & Rick, the local property managers are just a phone call away if you have any questions. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone."
