  • We love this little Paradise!

"The Villa we rented was just as we expected. Yes, it is a little dated but we just bought a bottle of febreeze at the Walmart and freshed up the couches. The overall experience was worth the rate paid for a 3 bedroom castle with private terraces and basically a private resort. It was very quiet during our stay in early November. Alphonse our night security who checked us in spoke excellent english as was a really friendly support during our stay. The staff at the restaurant, although speaking broken english were so accommodating and warm and friendly. I would suggest, you be prepared for limited kitchen amenities (more like camp dishes but when in Mexico go with the flow). We could walk to most areas easily. If you have a disability or need assistance, you should rent a car or a driver. The streets in the town are all cobblestone, and the villas at the resort are on different levels with stairs which was hard for our 70 year old mother. All beds are firm mattresses, if you have a bad back in Mexico, expect that as the standard for comfort. The town is beautiful, the lake is amazing and the local restaurants are so good! We averaged $35 CDN total bill for 4 people with drinks for dinners out."

  • A perfect oasis

"My husband & I were travelling around Mexico on our motorcycle and need a break from the heat on the coast. We were very lucky to stay at this perfect casita in Ajijic. It had everything we could have wanted and needed. The casita is very clean, comfortable and fully equipped, we felt totally at home from the moment we stepped in...what a find!! The photo are very accurate. Having a pool just outside our door was a lovely bonus. We enjoyed the location, yes it is a bit of a walked into town and the return is up hill. BUT without the uphill you would not get the spectacular views...well worth the walk. If walking in and out of town is a problem for you taxis are readily available and inexpensive. Thank you our wonderful stay."

  • outstanding accommodation, experience and hospitality

"The accommodation is a lovely casita - a small house on two floors with a view of Lake Patzcuaro - separate from the main house where we joined our host, Ladimer, for breakfast each day. It is a lovely space with all sorts of charming architectural features including its own kitchen, sitting room, spacious bedroom and bathroom with a shower leading onto its own balcony. There was a fireplace and heaters; a great asset because in early November it can be a bit cool at night. The property is right on the lake and has a lovely garden from which to watch the fishermen and egrets. My husband remarked that it was like being in a Tuscan villa on lake Como. Ladimer has a housekeeper and cook, the very talented Martha, so we arranged to have home cooked meals at the house for the whole week of our stay. Every dish she served was made fresh and from 'scratch'. Delicious! We chose Tzintzuntzan as our destination because we came expressly to experience the Day of the Dead celebrations and it is the epicentre of this extraordinary pre-Columbian ritual. Ladimer was our attentive, knowledgeable guide, translator and driver throughout the week and showed us all the sights both around the lake and in Morelia. He was also kind enough to introduce us to a number of his very charming friends and it was a delight to meet both young Mexican artists and an interesting array of residents hailing from around the world. The location is rural and Tzintzuntzan is a small village, though it was hopping with visitors for the celebrations. It is also close to many communities including the large town of Patzcuaro and the even larger city of Morelia. The Casita has a spiral staircase and the garden is on a hillside with stairs so travellers should have no mobility issues. Staying here for a week was the highlight of our 3 weeks in the Colonial heartland of Mexico, we highly recommend it."

  • Excellent everything

"We stayed in this beautiful house for the weekend, it is extremely well kept, clea, and all the details to make one feel welcome are thought of. The rooms are nice and airy, each with its own bathroom, the views are splendid, from either terrace or the living room. We almost did not want to leave the house to visit Valle as it was nice to just be there enjoying the peace and silence. The owner is very nice, replies quickly and has very good tips to enjoy the stay even more. The maid service is great, she is very nice and kind and a great cook. Thanks for everything!"
