  • Beautiful home, pool and gardens. Family loved it.

"This home is perfectly set up to walk through the door and immediately relax. We did not often felt the need to leave the outdoor terrace with views over the marina and across Banderas Bay. The beautiful pool just outside the villa was perfect for the kids. We enjoyed the contrast of bustling Bucerias and the slow-paced town of La Cruz. Some great restaurants within walking distance and even more great ones are an 80 peso ($4-5) cab-ride away in Bucerias. Downtown PV and the surf town Sayulita are each a reasonable cab ride or drive away. Friendly locals & expats and lovely La Cruz town square. Immaculate new marina with many open slips, and impressive sailing center. Nice to watch the racing lasers and optis everyday from the beach -- Mexico's future Olympians. It is a reasonable driving distance to good surf spots (although quite small when we were there) between La Cruz and Punta de Mita. Really loved the resort and it’s gardens and it never felt crowed or did we have to wait for service at the main poolside bar. I have traveled in Mexico several times since 1996, and apart from more coastal development, it has the same look and feel it always did. Despite the media furor about rising gang violence, nothing ever seemed remotely threatening here. I say go to the area and have a great trip like we did."

  • Amazing

"This place was gorgeous and more than we expected. I thought for sure that some of the photos must be of "common areas", but that is not the case. All that you see is part of your own private unit! The bedrooms and bathrooms are "inside" (so that you can have A/C), the dining room and kitchen have a roof but essentially no walls, and the rest of the living space is all completely "outdoors", but perched up high on a bluff so it's totally private. The views from every room are spectacular! I would say 270 degrees. There is nothing between you and the ocean. You can sit on couches, chairs, a swing, at tables even from your bed and watch the fishing boats and surfers all day long. From the bedroom you can hear the surf pounding on the rocks directly below your window all night long. We met people in town and described to them where we were staying and everyone knew this place! The only thing that I was concerned about prior to our trip was that Casa Don would perhaps be too polished and not feel like authentic Mexico. That was not the case; we learned that the house is quiet old but has been remodeled. The outdoor living was just a dream. Oh yes, and we had our own private beach behind the house! :-) We would definitely go back!"

  • Great house, great space!

"The house is beautiful. The house is large. We had 17 people staying in the house, and it never felt to small. The main floor has no bedrooms on in, so no one will be affected by noise, and there is plenty of room for everyone to hang out on the main floor. The best part of the house is that every one of the 8 bedrooms is great and has a great view. There is one bedroom with a view is partially obstructed by a tree, but I actually liked that view as you felt like you were up in the trees in the jungle. All but 2 of the bedrooms have their own bathroom, so that makes it really easy for everyone. There's a billiards room on the bottom floor where one of our group slept on the couch/futon. The furniture was very comfortable, and people often successfully napped on the couches throughout the house. The staff were very helpful arranging transportation, meals, etc. you're only 5 minutes walk from a nice beach. Getting taxis to the house was very easy. We'd often walk (downhill) to los muertos (15 minute walk), and then taxi home (up the hill). It was only 70 pesos for 4 people (currently equivalent to $3.50) to take a taxi. I've stayed in many other great houses in PV, but this house with all of its open space on the main floor, tons of patio space, so many bathrooms, and 8 great bedrooms really made accommodating 17 people in our group very easy."
