"We stayed here a week with three adults and two teens and had lots of space. The house was clean, comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. We were impressed with the melmac that looked like china, fun. We were unable to use the roof top patio as the tiles were not on the roof and the pigeons had claimed it. Also it would have been much too hot without the roof. We were very sorry, as it did look like a nice space to be. We loved the pool, with its little shallow piece and the depth we thought was good for all. It was nice to have it all to ourselves. Jamie checked on it three times to make sure it was at the correct chemical balance and to see if there was anything we needed. We mostly ate outside by the pool under the umbrella which was a lovely spot.
The walk to the beach is four blocks, two down, one over and another down, as there is no access through the Decamron resort. There is a pretty skookum rolling cooler that we took one day but decided that it was a little too much work. We bought a beach umbrella, so that should be there for the next visitors. We also bought and left two bougie boards although we managed to crack one, it still works as a floating device. As we love the beach most of all, we found that the house was just too far from the beach to run back and get something if you forgot it.
We had trouble with mosquitoes even though we were careful to close the screens, we all had bites, the person in the downstairs room had the most, so we are thinking that it might have something to do with the outside drain under the floor in the corner. We put a carpet over it and it seemed a bit better after that, but still not perfect.
The noise from the street is quite disturbing (Decameron supply trucks) in the master bedroom if you leave the windows open. We solved this by running the air conditioner 20 min before bed and kept the windows closed for the night. The windows were pretty sound proof and we were able to sleep fine with them closed.
The house is a fair walk from the main Plaza in Bucerias (2km), but there is a great little pub just over a block from the house with happy hour and great guacamole. Just around the corner from the pub is a little corner store that you can buy nearly everything you need, from eggs, bread and milk to beer.
We enjoyed our stay in Bucerias, it is an enjoyable town. If this house were closer to the beach we would consider staying here again as it is a nice space."
