  • Gorgeous and cool all at the same time!

"We loved staying at Casa Maare and can't wait to come back! This house is so pretty, yet functional and comfortable. Heather provided everything we needed and was wonderful to work with! I almost hesitate writing a great review because I want to keep it as a secret for myself and friends, but it's an amazing place in an incredible location at a great price. We're already figuring out when we can come back!!"

  • something for everyone

"This unit was the perfect size for my husband, myself and our teenage son. We didn't spend a lot of time in the condo but it was spacious and well kept. It is private and very quiet with just a short walk to entertainment and better yet, the beach! The pools and grounds are well taken care of. This was our first experience with a vacation rental in Mexico and we were very impressed. Nels , was available pretty much whenever we needed anything and very helpful. We are looking forward to another stay at Rob and Sue's Chac Hal Al paradise! Thank you Rob and Sue for sharing your home away from home with us."

  • A glorious home base

"All the good things people have said about Villa Mariposa are 100% true. All 3 bedrooms are beautiful, spacious & removed enough from the main area to make everybody feel they had their space. Being 'slightly padded' Canadians, we were concerned how we'd fare without air conditioning but it was fine. The ocean breeze graces every bedroom and the fans help too. You might want to bring earplugs as the jungle is not always quiet - lol. There are a few birds who are rehearsing to be alarm clocks and it made us snicker most mornings as they did their vocal warm ups. Luis & Nery are wonderful caretakers & their kids are polite and sweet. I wish we'd had Luis cook for us but we never quite got our act together. We love the friendly, quiet road where Villa Mariposa is situated and having security at the entrance just enhances how safe the area is. Strolling down to Blue Sky Pizza for a meal or exploring Casa Cenote were convenient treats. Our group ranged in age from 17 to 61. All of us love to get out and explore but I must say that the best days were spent at Villa Mariposa... the days when we'd wake up and leisurely have coffee on the patio, letting the sun and sea greet us. Eventually we'd grab our snorkel gear and swim out in search of another stunning adventure. We saw stingrays, eagle rays, hundreds of fish... we'd stay out watching for hours. Eventually we'd drag ourselves out of the water and flop into the hammocks under the palapa with a cold drink. Lunch, siesta, then more lazy beach time watching the sun go down. True peace. Thank you, Veronique & family, for sharing this magnificent gem with us."

  • Perfect for the kind of Mexico trip we wanted

"We had a really great trip, and our decision to stay at your place in Chemuyil made for a much more authentic Mexican experience than most families get. It also saved us money that we were able to spend on fun experiences in the area. It’s pretty hard to pull off and afford a good international vacation with 5 kids, but your house made it all work. The location on the park, across the street from the grocery store, and just down the way from Leo’s and La Palapa was great. It was fun seeing the Quinceneara festivities one evening, sitting on some guy's front patio watching him make delicious fresh breakfast empanadas for us, and just walking around town seeing how the locals live. And then, being so close to Xcacel Beach, Xel-ha, Tulum (you should add Pollo Bronco to your recommendations list!), Akumal, and Coba was perfect. The house itself was a great setup for us. Having so many rooms to spread out in was very nice, and the 3rd and 4th floor decks were a cool extra touch. As Ryan notes several times, this is not a pristine, sanitized resort kind of a trip. It's a lot closer to real Mexico, but still manageable for gringos with limited Spanish. Barking dogs, roosters, geckos in the house, some trash in the streets...but for just over $100 bucks a night, and so close to so much great stuff? I'd highly recommend it to a family looking for culture and adventure."
