  • A nice condo in Playa

"The unit is accurately described in the listing, and the owner and local manager were responsive to a few very minor issues that came up. The owner’s method of receiving payments directly by Visa is trustworthy. The kitchen is well equipped, the AC was very good, the beds are very comfortable, TV was fine and the wireless internet was the best I’ve encountered in Mexico and about as good as you can hope for there. The location is excellent: a 10-15 min. walk to the beach and 5 min. walk to the many restaurants on 5th Ave, however the best and cheapest were all a block or two off 5th. The nice balcony off the dining area that overlooks the pool was great for morning coffee, but can be a bit uncomfortable when there are people sitting on the balcony in front of it. However the real gem of the unit is the large and completely private rooftop terrace. There are a couple of good lounge chairs, and there is both sun and shade on it virtually all day. The tub on it is a hydro-tub, i.e. a large 1-person bathtub with jets. The pool area and grounds are very clean and well maintained. The pool is quite large and there are 10 lounge chairs around it. We were almost always able to get lounge chairs although a few times it was the last 1 or 2, however we were there in high season when likely all units were occupied. A few more chairs would help but, if worse comes to worst you can always have a dip in the pool and then head up to the private rooftop terrace. Entry requires climbing 2 flights of stairs which might be a challenge for people with mobility issues. The building was very quite, with most of the units occupied by retired couples. There is a large balcony off one bedroom and a small one off the other, however they both look out onto the street and there is little reason to ever use them. This brings up the only real problem with the unit: there is a major construction project going on across the street starting at 7AM. While the noise didn’t bother us too much (mainly because, unbelievably, they were using almost no power equipment) there were a few short very noisy periods. Unfortunately, there is nothing the owner or anyone else can do about this, so check with him on this if you’re sensitive to construction noise. Hopefully this will end in several months. Our electricity charge was US$30/wk, though we used very little AC. My only other suggestion: the small sofa in the living room is in great need of replacement."

  • Nice Property -- remote location

"The unit that we rented was spacious, clean, and well-appointed. We were especially very happy with the ocean view and the large closets. The beach was fantastic, as was the pool. It could have been a perfect week. However, we were not prepared for how remote we were. There is nothing within walking distance; not even a bus stop. No groceries, no ATM, literally nothing. With five people, we spent $50/day on taxi fare getting into town for meals, groceries, etc. I would highly recommend renting a car. Also, there were little annoyances with the appliances. The washer/dryer combo came with no instructions, the iron did not work, nor the blender. There is really no assistance, you're basically on your own. We checked-in on Saturday and did not see a representative until Monday. Even calling a cab could be a pain, because we needed a 5-passenger and even with Spanish speakers in our group it often required a 20-minute delay when the wrong car would first appear. TIP -- if you have them purchase groceries for you in advance be prepared to pay in cash. We didn't expect that and so were nearly out of cash one day after arrival! And if you buy groceries, go to the Mega and NOT the WalMart. We have a 50-minute line at WalMart when we bought groceries. Mind you, if we had known these things in advance it could have been a very good trip. We would have brought much more cash, we would have checked all the appliances the first day and resolved the issues immediately rather than constantly discover problems at the last second, and we would have been mentally prepared for being on our own with no service desk to assist. If we had been prepared we would have been able to concentrate on the beautiful beach and surroundings."

  • Perfection in Playa

"We rented E2 for our family's Fall Break getaway. It was the perfect spot for 4 adults and 2 children to enjoy everything Playa del Carmen had to offer. 3 bedrooms / 2 bath - security gated front and beach side. A beautiful beach is just steps away and an infinity pool that kept the kids (and adults) happy provides an amazing view. You're just a short walk from the many shops of 5th avenue - with restaurants to please everyone or cook in its fully equipped kitchen. Plenty of beach and bath towels. Only recommendation would be to add more wash cloths (only supplied enough for 1 day). The washer and dryer in the unit was a definite plus. Friendly and efficient housekeeping and pool / beach staff. Just a short walk to the Cozumel ferry, Playa's city park with nightly entertainment or Walmart for necessities. No need to rent a car as you're just steps away from everything. Location location location."

  • Absolute Paradise

"We just got back from our stay at this amazing property. This was by far the most incredible property we have ever stayed at and cannot wait to go back and see it again. We were a family of 7 staying for a full week. We had 5 adults and one teenager and at no point did we feel cramped in the condo. The apartment actually feels much bigger than the pictures are able to show. The ocean views are unobstructed on the top terrace allowing you to fully take in the paradise. We did cook at the apartment and all the appliances worked great. The owner ensured that you have all the basics like oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and such so all you need from the store is your produce and proteins. Also, they provided other basics such as dish soap, laundry detergent, dishwasher soap, filtered water - all the things you would normally have at home that you now do not have to buy in bulk for a short stay. Outside the gorgeous apartment, what really made our stay a 5-star experience was the staff. The concierge and the daily complex staff were extremely nice and helpful. They went above and beyond to ensure each guest was happy and had what they needed for their comfort. Our family walked up and down the beach and each time confirmed that there is no better property than this one while staying at Playa del Carmen. The condo is gated with a code to get in so only the guests staying there are able to access the property and pool area. The walk from your complex to the 5th avenue is maybe 30 seconds tops! I don't know of any other travels I have done where you have the downtown center that close to your apartment and the beach. We rented a car one day to visit Yucatan and Chichen Itza, however, if you are staying just in Playa, you will not need a car as everything is walking distance and feels very safe. If you are looking more to see other towns 45+ minutes away, I would recommend a car. All in all, our favorite vacation so far and the best stay we have ever had. Thank you so much to the owner and property manager. We are so grateful to have stayed there and cannot wait to go back. Seriously, we already started planning our next family visit. THANK YOU!!! :)"
