  • Romantic, Family Friendly, This Place Has It All

"We traveled to Playa del Carmen as a family of six, grandparents in our sixties, children in their thirties and grandchildren seven and three. Gillian's beautiful condo accommodated us all perfectly. The condo is visually stunning, three large bedrooms, one on the first floor and two on the second and three full bathrooms. The layout meant that we could be together and still have privacy when we wanted a little alone time. The kitchen had everything we needed and although we loved going out to sample the wonderful food we also enjoyed shopping at the Mega, a short cab ride away, and making our own feasts. The dining room fit us all easily and there were plenty of dishes. There was a blender so we could make frozen drinks which we then took out to the amazing patio that faces a private, bird watchers paradise. Each day we identified new birds and our grandchildren also loved watching for the coatis, small furry animals, that passed through several times a day. The pool was clean and large enough to swim in or just to lay on a tube and soak up the sun. A short walk from the condo brought us to a white sand beach that was perfect for walking, sitting or splashing in the waves. The condo came with beach chairs, umbrella and cooler - everything we could want to enjoy the spectacular view. It was also a short walk into Playa which we did frequently. Gillian was so helpful in answering all our questions before we left and Chris, the condo manager, was helpful while we were in Mexico. Playa itself was a lovely place to visit. It felt very safe, it was easy to get around both on foot and using taxis - we never felt the need for a car. The food was excellent from the cheap and tasty tacos directly across the street from the Mega grocery store to the more upscale options along 5th Avenue, a pedestrian shopping and eating area closed to vehicles for many, many blocks. We've been to a number of places in Mexico but this was our first time in Playa. We will be back."

  • Holiday Season in Playa del Carmen

"We travelled back to Mexico with our adult children to enjoy our first Christmas together since 2013. Casa Tortuga and the folks from Bric treated us well and the house met all expectations. The neighbors were great and helped quickly orient us to all the best places to eat and hang out while in Playa del Carmen (thanks Laverne & Jerry). The 5th avenue scene was a bit much for our taste but with the help from the locals we found a more relaxed pace off the toursit grid. A day at Tulum, Akumal and Xpu Ha beaches eased the madness of Playa. We would certainly consider going back to this property albeit at a quieter time of year. Casa Sophia and Bioorganics are both a must. Thanks Annabel for opening your home to us."

  • Nice place, great location

"Villa Kiin was a great choice for my group of 7 people (could have easily accommodated 1 or 2 more). The location is great - about 2 blocks from the white sandy beach, and about 10 minute walk to the main strip in town. Carlos, the property manager was quick to respond to any issues that came up (for example, hot water wasn't working when we arrived, and he came over quickly to fix the problem). It's not super fancy, but it is quite charming and comfortable."

  • Best Located Condo Unit

"I saw a review that said, "This is no Ritz". It is not, but if that is what you're looking for go to a resort. It is a family friendly unit with THE best views of all the units there. My husband and I are early risers and this unit was amazing. We could see the sunrise over the ocean from the deck every morning with our cups of coffee. I think only one other unit would get this view but they also get the direct morning sun which we didn't get. There were 7 of us staying and the room setup was perfect for us. We could watch our kids (ages 12 to 24) on the beach or at the pool from the balcony. We have to be budget minded and a condo rather than all inclusive was how we chose to do this. Rentals Your Way sent a shuttle to pick us up. On the way back we stopped at the store to buy enough breakfast and lunch food for the week. 5th Avenue is right there and we were able to go for a walk every day and find a place to eat dinner or get an ice cream. There is also a nearby Starbucks and Krispy Kreme Doughnut place nearby which became our morning routine. Normally I am not a big pool person but the water in this pool was not at all cold and I found that we enjoyed swimming many times a day. Also, the beach is just outside the complex and they have chairs and umbrellas set up. The ocean water was warm too and the seaweed was not as bad as I'd been led to believe. There were a few cons though. The air conditioners were loud. Also, the dryer did not work well and both the washer and dryer smelled horrible. I do want to say that I was concerned about the hot water after reading some reviews and we had no problem with that. I would definitely recommend this particular unit as the location and views could not be beat."
