  • As Good as it Gets in Playa for Location & Property

"Believe all the excellent reviews regarding the beach front location, condo unit, proximity to restaurants, bars and shopping. The owners were great to work with and the reservation process was very easy. Ideal for 2 couples as each bedroom has a king bed along with a large bathroom. We stayed in late May which was very quite which meant there were plenty of available lounge chairs at the pool and beach. The 3 buildings in El Faro are well maintained and the security staff is plentiful and willing to assist you. My wife was concerned about safety prior to the trip but felt very comfortable the entire time as the guards are 24/7 and the area around the buildings seems safe. If you are high maintenance with high service needs you should stay in a full service resort as it would be unfair to criticize the property for something it does not promote itself to be. We were OK with bringing our own drinks to the pool or getting drinks from the beach bar right next door. Rooms are tidied up every other day but new towel are an additional fee. We ate out for all meals as that is what we do on vacation but if you wanted to cook the kitchen is well stocked and there is a grill on the patio. My wife had a massage by the pool, most of us did the trip to the Mayan ruins and the boys did para-sailing right down the beach. We only stayed 4 nights because of work commitments but would recommend at least 5 nights. We have recommended the place to all our friends except 1 couple that normally stay at the Ritz or Four Seasons. We would not look to stay at any other place on our next trip to Playa del Carmen."

  • Skip the resort. Great home for a family vacation.

"Our family of 6 rented Villa Kigner in August and we really loved the house and the community. The pools in the complex were terrific and the house has 7 bikes which we used a number of times to get to the beach. (the bikes aren't ideal for smaller kids). The grounds were very nicely landscaped and well protected. Neigbouring units were all well-kept and quiet. We always felt very safe and secure. There are 2 groceries stores very close by, just outside of Playacar, and easy to get groceries at. Playacar has some small stores and restaurants as well that are easy to walk to. It's a bit of a walk to Playa del Carmen and not that easy to find the beach, but we managed well. We had some great meals in town. We don't recommend eating on 5th avenue. We had a much better experience eating at local restaurants which were very easy to get to from the house. The proximity to various activities around the Mayan Riviera is perfect. Snorkeling, ruins, cenotes. We had a great trip and were so glad we picked Villa Kigner to stay at."

  • Perfect spot in Playa!

"Can't even believe how much we lucked out finding this place for our first Playa del Carmen experience! We are not the type of people to go for the big resorts. Why go to a foreign country only to spent time around other travelers? Everything about our stay was perfect! The condo is clean and modern, with a partial ocean view from the living room and balcony. The location is as good as it gets- right between a fantastic section of beach and La Quinta. Even though it is so close to the action, the street is quiet and very safe, and there is very little traffic. Some great restaurants nearby. Do not miss La Cueva del Chango! Seriously, this place is even better than the pictures suggest. The rooftop infinity pool is to die for! We spent hours and hours up there, sometimes having the whole area to ourselves. We also met some great folks up there. There is a swim-up DIY bar up there, which is perfect. You dont have to rely on overpriced drinks like you would find at swim-up bar at a big resort. From up there, your view of the ocean is amazing! Only one property between Pueblito Escondido and the beach, and it is all thatched roof cabanas, so it feels very tropical and romantic. Jose was very hospitable, and was there on time to check us in and get us acquainted. We loved it so much we are already planning to return next year, though we usually make it a rule never to visit the same place twice. Seriously, this is the good life!"
