  • Still the best property on Isla Mujeres

"This was our seventh year at the house. We only get two weeks in March to be there and the time flies so fast. It's home to us now. Perfectly comfortable and happy. We so enjoy the walking trail to Punta Sur and traveled it almost every day. What views! In fact we walk many places at that end of the island. There are many fine restaurants in Colonia La Gloria and the area. Don't miss Limon, Mango Café, Playa Lancheros, Capitan Dulche, Caribbean Brisas, La Bruja and so many others. We enjoy the neighborhood and all the local people there. We've made so many local friends on Isla and enjoy our yearly visits with them. The house has a such a feeling of quiet and isolation even though the area is busy with tourist traffic on the main road. Inside the courtyard and outside on the patio, you can't even hear anything but the ocean and the birds. The house is very clean and comfortable with all the conveniences you'll need. If you're nature lovers and enjoy peace and quiet, this is the place. We've already booked for 2017."

  • Dream House for a Dream Vacation

"Beautiful place, huge house and relaxing vacation. Our stay here was so relaxing and also so wonderful with the delicious meals. Some of us hung around the house almost the entire week and others went exploring, snorkeling, kayaking and to the ruins. We walked the beach, swam in the warm water and had a lot of room for all of us. There were 12 in our group. We wanted to take Lily and the other staff home with us. They are just one of the reasons why we loved this house. It is decorated lovely and has everything that you will need including the beach towels. I’m sure we will return to this house again."

  • Beautiful and Well Equipped

"As I write this it is our last day in Cozumel. I am sitting on the porch drinking my coffee and watching the ocean. This is how we have greeted every day of our stay in this wonderful condo. We have been to Cozumel 3 times. In the past we have stayed at Secrets, the all-inclusive resort next to Residencias Reef. I am so glad we booked here. The furnishings are high quality and very comfortable as is the king bed. The kitchen is well equipped. We didn't cook while we were here but we did take advantage of the appliances, including the washer and dryer. It was great to be able to do small loads. Next year I won't feel the need to over pack. We went diving each morning and hung out by the pool or snorkeled in the afternoon. Our Dive Master picked up at the Secrets Pier. There is a sign that non-hotel guests will need to pay $2.00/day to use the pier but no one was collecting money. By evening we were grateful for the Dish TV and surround sound. Fulvio, the property manager, made sure we knew how to reach him in the event of an issue. We did have a question about the operation of the TV. Fulvio passed our question to Michael, the owner, who called us that afternoon and helped us to resolve the issue. Olga, the maid, is very thorough and sweet! She'll make sure you have clean towels everyday and a spotless living area. As other reviews have mentioned, you'll need a rental car. Carlos and Charlie's is next to the property but they are not open in the evenings. I've heard you can buy passes to the restaurants at Secrets, but we enjoyed the restaurants in town. A couple of nights we didn't feel like making the drive. We had plenty of leftovers for a lovely meal while watching a good movie on the TV. I highly recommend this condo. We will definitely be back next year! Lynne Williams Richmond, Va."

  • Would visit again!

"In the past few times our family went to Akumal, we stayed at Las Casitas but couldn't book a unit this time. We picked Casa Solymar based on the reviews - it looked classy and had three bedrooms and was walking distance to the main beach. The villa was a little set back from the road and had a lush garden. It was spacious with a great view, and everything was clean. The kitchen was well stocked and even had some oil and spices. The pool was a lot bigger than we thought, a great size for our family. We swam in it a few times a day. It was clean and not over-chlorinated. The villa provided an electric cart which was helpful when we made several trips to the grocery store or decided to go to Yal-ku which was a long walk away. We didn't think it was such a plus point when making our reservation, but it was really a nice convenience. The bedrooms upstairs were a little warm in late March. My bedroom had a faulty AC unit and never cooled down. When I contacted the manager, Monica Estrada, she sent someone to look at it right away, and the AC was replaced that very day. Monica was very helpful. Due to passport issues, I had to arrive two days later than my family and she arranged additional airport transfer. Every time I emailed her, I received a reply right away. Please be aware that the wifi connection doesn't reach the upstairs bedrooms. The beach is very rocky so you can't go swimming there. The view, though, is spectacular. On very windy days, the salt spray can get 100 ft right up to the windows. When we stayed at Las Casitas in the past, we used to tip the housekeeper every day whatever we liked. Here at Casa Solymar, the guest book said to tip the housekeeper and gardener 15% of the cost of the rental. We also felt that being asked to tip the gardener is quite unusual. Shouldn't the maintenance of the pool and garden be factored into the cost of the rental? The villa management should have asked for the rental + 15% upfront instead. The tipping request and amount felt like a hidden fee. Tipping should be optional. We did tip the staff because we wanted to, but didn't tip the 15% and felt guilty that they might not have been paid their fair share. But paying them is the responsibility of the management, not the guests. All said and done, Casa Solymar is a solid five stars and I would go back for a visit. Thank you, Monica, for making our stay a lovely one."
