  • Describes it perfectly!

"We had an amazing family reunion at Casa Amaviva. Three adult couples and the matriarch whose birthday we were celebrating fit comfortably in this stunning home. David and Miriam and their daughter were delightful and we loved getting to know them as well as the local scene. We lagoon and deep sea fished with guides recommended by David, and had a great time on the sea kayaks. It was nice to be away from everything - but close enough to visit Tulum, Cabo and the Cenotes. Recommend getting a substantial car. It is a remarkable place and we feel very lucky to have been so spoiled. A really great time in a really great place. Could not recommend it more highly."

  • perfectly smooth vacation celebration

"every detail was perfect. A natural paradise made even more lovely by the architecture and minimally chic home decor. I am a designer and these kinds of details do not go unnoticed. The staff was so warm and friendly. They were a joy to get to know and seemed happy to be doing what they do and doing it well. The food...oh the food was over the top amazing. A feast of meats, sauces, tropical fruit, veggies, seafood, and soups. Dinner served on a breezy patio with full service and a perfect ambiance. Some of our group landed in nearby hammocks after meals. This trip exceeded even my high expectations. We rented out 2 houses right next to each other and our group of 12 was amazed."

  • Rancho Pedro Paila, Your Own Private Resort

"Although I had heard of Rancho before, this was our first stay. We were lucky enough to get the whole place. That's the Main House and both Casitas. Perfect for the 12 of us with room to spare. It was absolutely just like our own private resort. The description and pictures were close but in person was amazing. So many beautiful views. Sunrise from any of the three Palapas, any porch or the most amazing deck on the main house where the sunsets were just ablaze. Sunsets, where fresh Guacamole, Pico De Gallo & Chips were served by the Staff. We opted for the meal package (dinners) and were never disappointed. 6 meals that were every bit as good as any restaurant. The caretakers were amazing and really treated us well. It was obvious how much they cared for the property. Plenty to do in the area like Fishing with Chico (one of the local fishing guides) or a trip into Tulum for a nice Cenote Snorkel (a must). We also spent a day shopping, eating and drinking in town, about 20 minutes away, near the local resorts. Too much fun. The ride back and forth can be a bit bumpy but they were fixing the road while we were there. Mike, the Property Manager was very informative about what to expect regarding everything from the road condition to travel time from Cancun etc... Listen to him and maybe go with a jeep. Much more fun than a car. In a nutshell, Rancho Pedro Paila was about as good as it gets. Just make sure your ready to kick back and relax."

  • Serene luxury in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere!

"If you're looking for wilderness, seclusion and solitude at the end of the world this is where you should go. This is exactly what we were looking for without compromising our comfort and we weren't disappointed. This villa is the last house on the Punta Allen road at the end of the peninsula near the lighthouse about 2km from the village. You are surrounded by jungle with the Caribbean Sea to your front and a lagoon at your back. The villa is new, has two bedrooms, which comfortably sleeps 4 adults, and is tastefully furnished and decorated. The best part of the house is the rooftop terrace which gives you a panoramic view of the jungle and comfortable vantage point to watch amazing sunsets and enjoy a night sky like no other. The location is also a great launching point for fishing excursions and eco-tours in the area, but these should be organized beforehand in the village or with Lalo (brush-up on your Spanish). The area is like no other with a pristine sea dotted with islands and isolated beaches and a coral reef which gets very little visitor pressure. Virgilio, the property manager, and Lalo the housekeeper/security were indispensable in making our stay enjoyable. Lalo cooked tacos one-night and lobster the next night which we devoured in the back patio. You can also go to the village for some good dining options but it's about a 20 minute walk, which we welcomed. You can drive if you have the right vehicle. There is no wifi in the house which is good if you want to be unreachable and disconnected, which we did. Otherwise, you will need to go into the village and connect to wifi in one of the restaurants which also forced us to take some night walks on the jungle road, another welcome adventure but bring along a flash-light. One of the reasons this wonderful habitat has escaped mass tourism is the lack of infrastructure and unpaved roads so I would recommend renting an SUV to come down to the house. Joel was a gracious and accommodating host and we will certainly return!"
