  • Amazing Week

"We had a lovely time with extended family (6 adults, 4 children). I can't express how wonderful Samuel was, from day one (and Norma was a wonderful housekeeper). We had a water issue one day and he was attentive until it was solved (and I was emailing the owner initially who was also wonderfully responsive). And his cooking was amazing- I think we asked him to cook most of our dinners- and there was plenty left for lunch. He even cleaned and cooked the fish my sons' caught one day. Casa Tortuga's location was perfect for our day adventures- nothing was more than a 10min drive. The only downside was the amount of seaweed that came on shore. Samuel and his men tried to clear it daily, but it was an impossible feat. By the end of the week the smell was overpowering. That said, we still took the kayaks out and went snorkeling beyond the seaweed beds. I am not sure this is a year-round issue though- perhaps a mix of windy weather and time of year? This was our first time renting a house for our family vacation, and it was a great experience. If we ever return to Riviera Maya, I would be happy to stay here again!"

  • We had a great time!

"My friends and I rented the property for a week. It's located on a roped off road that is monitored by a guard which was nice. It is within walking distance from Blue Sky restaurant which has good guacamole and mango margaritas. They also have wood fired pizza but we forgot to try it! You can also walk to Casa Cenote however we heard there was an alligator the day we were going to try snorkeling so we passed. It's fun just to stand there and watch people come in and out. There is a little grocery store across from the cenote that had homemade tortillas, chips, sunscreen, hats, and ice and was very reasonable. The house itself definitely needs work however that is all noted in the description. It's just a rustic beach house! We still had fun in the pool even though it was missing numerous tiles. It was still clean and cool and refreshing during the day. We even left a couple of pool floaties for future guests. I recommend having Armando and his wife cook the pollo in the pit for you. It was the best chicken I have ever had! They also made some creamed vegetables that were amazing! The wi-fi worked great! It only went out a little on the day we were departing. It's cool to walk through the front door and see the ocean and the pool and have the daily breeze. If you are afraid of critters, I don't know if I would recommend this place. We were visited by a bat, scorpion, a stray dog, lizards and some roaches. Didn't seem to bother us much. We still had a fantastic time!! Plus you pretty much have your own beach with kayaks (bring some water shoes). The beach is pretty protected from the reef so the water was generally always very calm. So much to do in this area!"

  • Wonderful villa

"This is a wonderful villa. We have rented all over the world on a large number of vacations, and this villa ranked in the top three. It is very well-maintained, clean, beautiful, and the staff is terrific. Cannot recommend strongly enough."
