  • Great Vacation

"We had a fantastic family stay at Yum Botic. The beach is amazing and very private and tranquil great for relaxing, sitting under the palapa a drinking a beer. The caretakers were fantastic, they work tirelessly to make you welcome and went out of their way to help us in anyway they could, we enjoyed a fresh fish bbq with them on our last night. A great vacation, Thanks"

Disfrutamos mucho, gracias !"

  • A nice condo in Playa

"The unit is accurately described in the listing, and the owner and local manager were responsive to a few very minor issues that came up. The owner’s method of receiving payments directly by Visa is trustworthy. The kitchen is well equipped, the AC was very good, the beds are very comfortable, TV was fine and the wireless internet was the best I’ve encountered in Mexico and about as good as you can hope for there. The location is excellent: a 10-15 min. walk to the beach and 5 min. walk to the many restaurants on 5th Ave, however the best and cheapest were all a block or two off 5th. The nice balcony off the dining area that overlooks the pool was great for morning coffee, but can be a bit uncomfortable when there are people sitting on the balcony in front of it. However the real gem of the unit is the large and completely private rooftop terrace. There are a couple of good lounge chairs, and there is both sun and shade on it virtually all day. The tub on it is a hydro-tub, i.e. a large 1-person bathtub with jets. The pool area and grounds are very clean and well maintained. The pool is quite large and there are 10 lounge chairs around it. We were almost always able to get lounge chairs although a few times it was the last 1 or 2, however we were there in high season when likely all units were occupied. A few more chairs would help but, if worse comes to worst you can always have a dip in the pool and then head up to the private rooftop terrace. Entry requires climbing 2 flights of stairs which might be a challenge for people with mobility issues. The building was very quite, with most of the units occupied by retired couples. There is a large balcony off one bedroom and a small one off the other, however they both look out onto the street and there is little reason to ever use them. This brings up the only real problem with the unit: there is a major construction project going on across the street starting at 7AM. While the noise didn’t bother us too much (mainly because, unbelievably, they were using almost no power equipment) there were a few short very noisy periods. Unfortunately, there is nothing the owner or anyone else can do about this, so check with him on this if you’re sensitive to construction noise. Hopefully this will end in several months. Our electricity charge was US$30/wk, though we used very little AC. My only other suggestion: the small sofa in the living room is in great need of replacement."

  • Excellent experience - good place for large family

"We had a great time at Villa Gaugin for our 10 day trip in April 2016, and everything was just as we hoped. This would be a great choice especially if you have a large family or group and are into the contemporary design of the house and furnishings vs. more typical palapa-style rentals. - The house is extremely spacious (actually even bigger than it seems in the photos). There was a LOT of room for our 9 guests, two couples and 5 kids, and it would certainly not have felt crowded at all to have another couple guests. - The location is perfect for snorkeling into the Yal Ku lagoon -- no need to walk or drive and there are restaurants and activities nearby. - The water directly in front of the house was also fairly well protected so it was usually calm enough for swimming except in very high winds -The pool was always nice and is sized well for kids to play in. - The kitchen is well set up and has a higher grade of materials than many others. We did our own cooking and it all worked well. - The house was kept very clean by the on-site caretakers. - The cell phone coverage and wifi at the house is excellent, much better than I have come to expect after four or five trips to this area in recent years."
