  • Beautiful, relaxing beach cabana!

"Our family of 5 (2 adults, children ages 13-18) just returned from a 4 week adventure traveling around the Yucatan Peninsula. The first leg of our adventure was a 6-night stay at Casita Dragonfly. If you want to relax and get away from it all, stay at Casita Dragonfly! We spent hours snorkeling, kayaking, and reading on the wonderful palapa porch (with a constant breeze blowing that kept any mosquitos at bay and ensured a wonderful temperature.) Casita Dragonfly sits right on the beach, steps away from the ocean. You need not put on a pair of shoes while there as the property sits right on the sand - although there is enough vegetation that not once did we have sand blowing around. Although the house has wifi, we enjoyed staying unplugged for the most part. Fans and screened windows kept us cool at night, the kitchen is equipped with all you'll need, and there are plenty of tables and chairs spread throughout the house and on the porch so that you're never far away from a place to sip a cool drink and read a good book. We were interested in snorkeling the reef, which is accessible from the beach - a very long swim, but more easily accessed by the kayaks the property provides. Our first two outings to the reef were amazing, flat water and wonderful visibility - sting ray, manta ray, tropical fish, beautiful coral. After those days, it got windy which made the porch even more comfortable, but made snorkeling impossible - instead, we took the kayaks out for long trips, where we were lucky enough to spot a sea turtle and a family of manatees. The town of Mahahual is a 30 minute drive for restaurants and basic necessities, but we preferred to stay at the Casita and away from the cruise ship crowds. While at the Casita, the only other people we ever saw were the wonderfully kind caretakers who checked in daily to make sure we had enough drinking water and that the cistern was full. The owners of the Casita have decorated it with many little touches that make the house extremely comfortable and special. There are colorful, decorative pillows all over and several options for lounging (a hanging bed, a lounge bed in the sun, a hammock and many lounge chairs - both on the porch and on the beach). The five of us had plenty of space to sleep and spread out. The property would also be perfect for two couples to share as there are two distinct sleeping areas/bathrooms-one upstairs, one downstairs. Extremely helpful are the detailed instructions provided by owners."

  • Caribbean breezes, fantastic views, hospitality in heaps

"We stayed for a week mid-April on the upper Jacuzzi level. The entire house has good light, great breezes blowing through and a location that is easy to use as a navigation point for the island. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable, we didn't use the other bedroom but I'd imagine it was the same. The master bathroom tub didn't have water, but no worries because the other bathroom had lots of hot water and good pressure. Eliot was a huge help to us, making us feel at home and answering any questions we might have about the island or the house. Lorenzo is your go to guy for doing a snorkel trip, sight seeing trip, really anything. He came and cooked some chilies on our gas stove and showed us how he made salsa verde. Everyday there was house keeping service which was unobtrusive and she did a wonderful job. Jimbo and Karen have found the perfect mix of people to care for their home. The customer care and fast response from Karen and Jimbo was terrific. Every question you could think of (and many you never thought to ask) were answered quickly and efficiently. We rented a golf cart for the week and that was one of the ways we were able to do all our adventuring. We both strongly suggest splurging and renting a golf cart for your stay. We ate several times at Mango but Rolandi's was our favorite place to eat. We stopped at many places north, south, east and west on the island and never had a bad meal. The turtle farm was a fun visit. We never made it to the ice bar, but drove past it many times. We saw small paisley colored sting rays in the water and a huge group of clown fish off of the back patio."

  • Casita Kiara-Fantastic!

"We just returned from a 10 day stay at Palma's beautiful condo in the Casita Blanca complex. I've never felt so comfortable in a vacation rental before. The condo was very spacious while at the same time felt very cozy. The beautiful art work and very nice furniture really made the condo feel like home. The kitchen was fantastic and well equipped and the island made it very efficient. There's plenty of storage space including lots of hooks on the walls so you can hang things. Very nice updated bathrooms. The whole condo was immaculately clean. It was an easy walk to town either by beach or road. We can't wait for next year! The countdown is on!"

  • Hidden Mexican Gem

"My wife, our 2 and half year old son, and I spent 7 nights at this spectacular house in this incredible undiscovered area of Mexico. The house is in a beautiful location and very comfortable. The house has all the amenities you could every need and is charming to boot. We enjoyed breakfasts and cocktails on the rooftop and balcony, swimming in the ocean, and playing and relaxing on the beach. The house and beach peaceful and private. The caretaker made sure were comfortable and that we had everything we needed. Mahahual is a spectacular 15 minute drive away and a gem of a town - totally undiscovered, no large resorts, but plenty of great restaurant and incredible beaches and water. Mahahual and this area is the way Mexico used to be. We were able to do a few fun day trips with ruins and a stunning lake only an hour away. We had the perfect vacation and hope that we can make another trip to Casa Azucar in the future."
