  • relaxing time away before holidays

"This was our second visit to this condo. As before, we had a wonderful time. Being right on the beach is our favorite part. The condo is the perfect size for us, as it is very welcoming and feels like home. There is plenty to do within walking distance. We rent a car for driving to town and venturing to the many playas with beautiful views and snorkeling. We recommend this condo and are looking forward to visiting again."

  • Holiday Season in Playa del Carmen

"We travelled back to Mexico with our adult children to enjoy our first Christmas together since 2013. Casa Tortuga and the folks from Bric treated us well and the house met all expectations. The neighbors were great and helped quickly orient us to all the best places to eat and hang out while in Playa del Carmen (thanks Laverne & Jerry). The 5th avenue scene was a bit much for our taste but with the help from the locals we found a more relaxed pace off the toursit grid. A day at Tulum, Akumal and Xpu Ha beaches eased the madness of Playa. We would certainly consider going back to this property albeit at a quieter time of year. Casa Sophia and Bioorganics are both a must. Thanks Annabel for opening your home to us."

  • Clean and Quiet Condo in Excellent Location

"We booked this condo to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Great choice. As mentioned in other reviews, the location is perfect because you can quickly walk or taxi to where the "action" is or you can walk north on the beach to find a piece of paradise to yourself. We were so happy we chose this location rather than a hotel at the center of town. The condo is clean and I cannot think of one thing that was not available that we wished it had. The booking was simple and the owners responsive. The showers at the east gate made cleaning up after hanging out at the beach a breeze. 24 hr. security. We are scuba divers and the location was even more awesome due to the proximity of Blue Life (across the street) who we very highly recommend as well. They will take you on Playa dives right from the beach by the condo or drive you to the ferry to dive Cozumel or out to the Cenotes for some cavern dives. Debbie provided some great restaurant recommendations, but a newer restaurant that is a must is Puerto Cocina Urbana (just off 5th Ave, a few blocks from the condo). We stumbled upon it our first night in Playa and went back again a few days later. Raul the manager is a great guy and the food is outstanding (the zarzuela...shrimp + octopus tacos were mouthwatering). They also have an amazing selection of craft beers for when you tire of margaritas and Corona. Great prices too."

  • Nice Property -- remote location

"The unit that we rented was spacious, clean, and well-appointed. We were especially very happy with the ocean view and the large closets. The beach was fantastic, as was the pool. It could have been a perfect week. However, we were not prepared for how remote we were. There is nothing within walking distance; not even a bus stop. No groceries, no ATM, literally nothing. With five people, we spent $50/day on taxi fare getting into town for meals, groceries, etc. I would highly recommend renting a car. Also, there were little annoyances with the appliances. The washer/dryer combo came with no instructions, the iron did not work, nor the blender. There is really no assistance, you're basically on your own. We checked-in on Saturday and did not see a representative until Monday. Even calling a cab could be a pain, because we needed a 5-passenger and even with Spanish speakers in our group it often required a 20-minute delay when the wrong car would first appear. TIP -- if you have them purchase groceries for you in advance be prepared to pay in cash. We didn't expect that and so were nearly out of cash one day after arrival! And if you buy groceries, go to the Mega and NOT the WalMart. We have a 50-minute line at WalMart when we bought groceries. Mind you, if we had known these things in advance it could have been a very good trip. We would have brought much more cash, we would have checked all the appliances the first day and resolved the issues immediately rather than constantly discover problems at the last second, and we would have been mentally prepared for being on our own with no service desk to assist. If we had been prepared we would have been able to concentrate on the beautiful beach and surroundings."
