  • Still the best property on Isla Mujeres

"This was our seventh year at the house. We only get two weeks in March to be there and the time flies so fast. It's home to us now. Perfectly comfortable and happy. We so enjoy the walking trail to Punta Sur and traveled it almost every day. What views! In fact we walk many places at that end of the island. There are many fine restaurants in Colonia La Gloria and the area. Don't miss Limon, Mango Café, Playa Lancheros, Capitan Dulche, Caribbean Brisas, La Bruja and so many others. We enjoy the neighborhood and all the local people there. We've made so many local friends on Isla and enjoy our yearly visits with them. The house has a such a feeling of quiet and isolation even though the area is busy with tourist traffic on the main road. Inside the courtyard and outside on the patio, you can't even hear anything but the ocean and the birds. The house is very clean and comfortable with all the conveniences you'll need. If you're nature lovers and enjoy peace and quiet, this is the place. We've already booked for 2017."

  • Best Vacation Ever!

"Last month my college girlfriends and I gathered for a long in the making reunion. We were all so excited we could have slept on the beach (although it’s been around 40 years since we did that!). Fortunately we were spared the camping adventure and ended up at Casa South Breeze in Puerto Morelos Mexico. Wow, we’re coming up in the world! I was totally blown away by the place. First of all I was impressed with the arched front door floating in the iron scroll work flanked by beautiful vines of bougainvillea. This opens to a brick patio landscaped with tropical plants and a seating area to relax in under the plants. This area leads to another impressive door lit by a huge Mexican iron chandelier. I stepped into a Mexican villa decorated with tile floors, comfortable furniture; looking out to the pool and 180 degree ocean view. The kitchen is large with a stunning tile mosaic of fish as a focal point. Eight people could easily fit here all working at the same time. This kitchen has access to a screened-in outside working kitchen for grilling. The porch also has a table for outside dining; and always the magnificent view of the pool and ocean. There is a master bedroom on the first floor with a Mexican tile bath, and a private screened-in porch with chairs and hammock; again with the pool and ocean view. The rest of the bedrooms (3) are on the second floor and 2 have private baths. What I love about this place is the house has many architectural angles in the back, allowing each of the upstairs rooms to have their own balcony and 180 degree view of the pool and ocean. Every room has beautiful windows that open for a great cross ventilation of ocean breeze. I have enjoyed the cooling colors in the house, the art work and the exquisite ironwork throughout. Even the kitchen sink is angled for the best view of the ocean. I have truly enjoyed every minute of my time here. You will feel at peace and enjoy all the beauty Mexico and Casa South Breeze has to offer."

  • Beautiful, relaxing beach cabana!

"Our family of 5 (2 adults, children ages 13-18) just returned from a 4 week adventure traveling around the Yucatan Peninsula. The first leg of our adventure was a 6-night stay at Casita Dragonfly. If you want to relax and get away from it all, stay at Casita Dragonfly! We spent hours snorkeling, kayaking, and reading on the wonderful palapa porch (with a constant breeze blowing that kept any mosquitos at bay and ensured a wonderful temperature.) Casita Dragonfly sits right on the beach, steps away from the ocean. You need not put on a pair of shoes while there as the property sits right on the sand - although there is enough vegetation that not once did we have sand blowing around. Although the house has wifi, we enjoyed staying unplugged for the most part. Fans and screened windows kept us cool at night, the kitchen is equipped with all you'll need, and there are plenty of tables and chairs spread throughout the house and on the porch so that you're never far away from a place to sip a cool drink and read a good book. We were interested in snorkeling the reef, which is accessible from the beach - a very long swim, but more easily accessed by the kayaks the property provides. Our first two outings to the reef were amazing, flat water and wonderful visibility - sting ray, manta ray, tropical fish, beautiful coral. After those days, it got windy which made the porch even more comfortable, but made snorkeling impossible - instead, we took the kayaks out for long trips, where we were lucky enough to spot a sea turtle and a family of manatees. The town of Mahahual is a 30 minute drive for restaurants and basic necessities, but we preferred to stay at the Casita and away from the cruise ship crowds. While at the Casita, the only other people we ever saw were the wonderfully kind caretakers who checked in daily to make sure we had enough drinking water and that the cistern was full. The owners of the Casita have decorated it with many little touches that make the house extremely comfortable and special. There are colorful, decorative pillows all over and several options for lounging (a hanging bed, a lounge bed in the sun, a hammock and many lounge chairs - both on the porch and on the beach). The five of us had plenty of space to sleep and spread out. The property would also be perfect for two couples to share as there are two distinct sleeping areas/bathrooms-one upstairs, one downstairs. Extremely helpful are the detailed instructions provided by owners."

  • Paradise!

"We just returned from 2 weeks at Casa Koolba and are already dreaming of the next time we'll be able to go. The house is well maintained and has comfortable seating on the deck that overlooks the most beautiful stretch of beach I've ever seen. We spent quite a bit of time on the beach lounges and in the hammocks which is well shaded if you don't want to be in the direct sun all day. By the way the wifi does reach the beach. We brought our Bose speaker and it worked great. We kayaked ( there is one) or snorkeled (there are several masks, snorkels and fins) every day and saw many beautiful fish and rays. We visited Chamicos, just at the end of the bay, several times while we were there to enjoy the ceviche, delicious! The property manager, Maricarmen, came by and we had a wonderful visit. She's very personable and wanted to make sure that we were well taken care of. She's a local so she can give you tips on restaurants, excursions, etc.. We were well taken care of by Manuel and his wife Marta. Really sweet people and hard workers. Manuel is a wonderful chef also! I would highly recommend the Gouda stuffed, bacon wrapped shrimp. We hope to return for a 3rd visit soon!"
