  • Beautiful home in a great location

"My wife and I stayed in the home for several days at the end of August 2016. Was a highly positive experience and would recommend this house to those visiting Merida. Pros: Location is great. Three blocks from Santiago park and its church and food stalls and food market. Short walk, maybe 10 minutes or so, to the city's grand plaza and trendy Santa Lucia park area. A bit longer walk to Paseo de Montejo and its attractions, but totally doable. Plenty of restaurants nearby, plenty of on street parking within one block. Convenience store directly across the street for beer and snacks, full grocery store three blocks away in Santiago. House is lovely. Two large bedrooms with queen beds in each. Full bathroom attached to each bedroom. Washing machine (clothes line drying though). Decent sized splash pool and lounge area on the patio. Relaxing roof deck. Hammocks. Big enough kitchen to cook if you want (we cooked breakfasts each morning) and big dining room table. Nice living room with big couch and tv. Very quiet. Can barely hear the street noise in the living areas, and not at all in the bedrooms at night. Nicely decorated, homey, classy. Super nice and responsive owner and management. They answered questions quickly and well. House was very clean. Check in and check out simple and easy. Lots of helpful info provided in the welcome booklet. Cons: It's hot in there. Yes, Merida is always hot no matter where you go, and especially in August, but that said, the house seemed to be maximized for quiet and avoiding street noise which sacrificed ventilation. Many of the windows are not screened, but rather enclosed by plastic so it's difficult to get cross breezes going. That makes the house very hot inside, so you will need to use the a.c., which can be expensive. We got by only using the a.c. at night to sleep, but something to keep in mind. You can escape the heat nicely in the splash pool and on the rooftop patio. Overall, a very nice place and a great option if you want to stay in a house in the historical central district of Merida."

  • Relaxing, beautiful 10 days!

"Our youngest graduated from high school so this was family getaway. We have close friends in Merida, so we wanted to be close to the city, yet on the beach. There were 6 of us and everyone had an amazing time. The house was everything that was advertised. We spent most of our time outside in pool, beach and courtyard. We prepared meals outside and enjoyed all of our meals there as well. The sunsets were spectacular!! La Playa, a wonderful seafood restaurant was 2 doors down the beach. Property manager David was awesome and Herb the groundskeeper was attentive and so very helpful! We loved the 2 canine residents and felt safe and secure every minute. We truly cannot wait to book this home again! We rented a car at the airport in Merida from La Curva (thank you Joaquin) which made our trips to Merida so very easy! We stopped at WalMart and Costco in Merida and stocked up on our first day and then bought locally in Chelem and Progresso after that. Thank you Pat, David, Herb and Homeaway for a wonderful vacation."

  • The authentic and magical Mexico!

"This was my 4th visit to Hacienda Sac Chich and if I thought it was amazing before, I was blown away by it now. The owners have continued to refine this property, going to any and every length to ensure its authenticity, beauty, and comfort. Their eye for the artistic and dramatic offer a feast for the senses. I tried to snap photos for social media bragging rights, but I could never do it justice. On this particular trip we were 4 couples for a 5-night getaway and it couldn't have been more perfect. Based on the owners recommendation we had an exceptional dinner in nearby Merida, we hired a wonderful massage therapist to come to the hacienda for a few treatments, we visited nearly a cenote a day - each one more wonderful than the next, climbed the Mayan ruins, and were thrilled at our good fortune that there was a festival/rodeo/bullfight right in their little village the weekend of our visit! But mostly, we just enjoyed this magical place with our big decisions each day being which pool to dip in, which location to watch the sunset from, and what kind of margaritas we would serve at happy hour. If you need to escape the stresses of life, turn back time, rejuvenate - this is where you need to be. And just in case you're not able to fully shut off the outside world (full disclosure - that includes me) they do have wifi ; )"
