  • Wonderful stay in a gorgeous home!

"Casa de Los Monos was even more beautiful than in the photos and the location near Santiago Park couldn't have been better. We were an international team of four researchers working in Merida and were all delighted with the house. The property managers Lillian and Art were very helpful getting us settled and answering any questions. The tasteful decor and high quality renovation of this historic house made it a luxurious home base."

  • The authentic and magical Mexico!

"This was my 4th visit to Hacienda Sac Chich and if I thought it was amazing before, I was blown away by it now. The owners have continued to refine this property, going to any and every length to ensure its authenticity, beauty, and comfort. Their eye for the artistic and dramatic offer a feast for the senses. I tried to snap photos for social media bragging rights, but I could never do it justice. On this particular trip we were 4 couples for a 5-night getaway and it couldn't have been more perfect. Based on the owners recommendation we had an exceptional dinner in nearby Merida, we hired a wonderful massage therapist to come to the hacienda for a few treatments, we visited nearly a cenote a day - each one more wonderful than the next, climbed the Mayan ruins, and were thrilled at our good fortune that there was a festival/rodeo/bullfight right in their little village the weekend of our visit! But mostly, we just enjoyed this magical place with our big decisions each day being which pool to dip in, which location to watch the sunset from, and what kind of margaritas we would serve at happy hour. If you need to escape the stresses of life, turn back time, rejuvenate - this is where you need to be. And just in case you're not able to fully shut off the outside world (full disclosure - that includes me) they do have wifi ; )"

"The house was wonderfully equipped for our long-term stay (Linens, cookware, china, even paper products). The house is spacious and has plenty of comfortable furniture both inside and out on the huge, covered patio. The CD and DVD players that were advertised did not work, nor did the TV in the second bedroom. However, The large flat-screen TV (satellite) in the living room had both USB and HDMI ports to accommodate most any electronics you bring with you. The beach is beautiful, and for most days through the winter, practically deserted. Sun tanning in the loungers can be either on the beach or on the front deck. The house is 1 1/2 km from the village of Chuburna where we would walk to buy supplies or to stop at a restaurant for a drink and wonderfully generous "botanos" (Mexican version of tapas). It is cheap and easy to move around using the small vans (combis). We made at least one trip to Progreso each week for more extensive shopping, and one trip each week to Merida for its culture, sightseeing, or to take a tour to the many nearby, spectacular Mayan archeological sites. We also did 3-day side trips to the nearby cities of Valladolid and Campeche. Everywhere we went, everyone we met was unfailingly friendly, courteous and helpful. People back home could take a lesson from these wonderful people. This was a terrific choice for a long-term stay. It was quiet and peaceful and we got to feel like we were part of a community. Yet, we were only a few short kilometers from any social or cultural activities we might desire. If you are looking for a high-energy vacation surrounded by tourists like yourself, go to Cancun. If you want a beautiful and relaxed setting that is much closer to the "real" Mexico then this is the place for you."

  • Home. Sweet. Home!

"My husband and I reserved this house so that my 80 year old mother would have a downstairs room and a pool to sit by on Merida's hot, hot afternoons. It was perfect!!! We had our secluded upstairs hide-a-way with sun rises and sunsets on the upstairs patio and she had her air conditioned refuge downstairs with a giant tv and the best pool in the city complete with cooling waterfall. We almost hated to leave the house at all, but Merida has so much to see and do. The Casa is in the best location just a short walk from some of the best restaurants in Parque Santa Lucia, an easy stroll to the centro zocalo and the main Mercado. Not too far to walk up to Paseo Montejo and all of the art galleries around Parque Santa Ana. Love, love, love this town AND Casa de la Luz!!!"
