  • Almost a 5 with a little tweeking

"Property and hosts were excellent. Helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable of the area. Facilities were excellent, plenty of space, comfortable inside furnishings, and well decorated. More comfortable outdoor furniture and better hot water flow would raise it to a 5."

  • Beautiful house, incredible ocean views, comforrable with all the needed amenities.

"This home provided us with the most peaceful vacation we have ever had. It was so quiet and so few people in close proximity that it seemed the world was just the ocean and us. We love to hunt for shells on the beach - this beach had the BEST shelling we have experienced - some truly rare finds. The Gulf was very warm and the water was relatively calm. A person can walk in water slightly above their knees for a good distance out. The availability of fresh seafood abounds. We enjoyed it both at local restaurants and from local fishermen for our own preparation in a very well stocked kitchen at the house. And all of this is capped off by the delightful and caring owner of the home, Juan Simon. A nicer man to rent from doesn't exist. Juan's first and foremost goal was our happiness!! He provided service above and beyond all expectations. Certainly Juan is a great ambassador of the Yucatan. I have NO criticisms to offer whatsoever. Las Tunas is the real deal. We look forward to taking our entire family back soon - it can easily acccomidate 8-10 people."

  • Best experience of Mexico ever! Clean, safe, comfortable!

"Kelly and Tim's place was so beautiful! We woke up to the sound of ocean waves and spent most days in the pool or basking in the sun. There is a staircase from the pool deck to the sandy beach below that is part of the property. The beach is not very wide and we had a lot of wind so some seaweed washed up onshore which made lying on the beach less desirable. However, swimming, snorkelling etc were awesome as the water was warm and we had comfortable deck chairs to bask in the sun on the pool deck. There is a swim up bar area as well. The beds were comfortable and there was a large gate and fence that protected the property. The rental manager was awesome and a phone call away if we needed anything. This house is a 30 min drive from Merida where we purchased groceries at places like Walmart and Costco. We loved that Chelem had little, quaint, authentic restaurants that we enjoyed on occasion and we also took in some local fishing. The people were friendly but many couldn't speak English so we plan to brush up on some spanish before we go back. The entire experience was a 10/10 and much better than an all inclusive. At night, we played cards or games or read (books, games and movies are provided if you don't bring your own). There was a huge flat screen tv and wifi never failed us. We will definitely go back!"

  • Wonderful Family Vacation!!

"Our family vacation was spent at Villa Mercedes 2 for four weeks this spring (Feb-Mar) and we thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience! Right from our first contact to the last our experience with Tony was exceptional; he was very friendly, professional, and helpful and was prompt to respond! The very large home was exactly as pictured with an extra set of clean bedding & towels for each guest. When you walk into the home you can see straight through to the pool, palm trees, white sandy beach, and right through to the Gulf of Mexico, it was very beautiful! The village of Chicxulub was exactly what we were hoping for, ‘Old Mexico’, not commercialized at all!! We found a few good restaurants in the village and also in Progreso which was only a 7 minute drive away or just buy fish from a local fisherman or fresh prawns from the gentlemen who stopped by the house ever couple days and cook in your own kitchen! At the north end of Merida there is a Costco for those who like to stock up, perishables can easily be purchased in either Chicxulub or Progreso. Apparently, there is over 5000 Cenotes in the area, a definite must to take in a few if you are in the Yucatan, they are breathtaking! Along with a tour of at least one of the ancient Mayan ruins, absolutely incredible! Visiting Merida & Uman along with eating fresh coconuts poolside were additional highlights of our trip! All in all a Great Vacation slowing down, enjoying the sun, sand and water! We hope to return again in the future!! Thank you again Tony for sharing our families vacation home with us!"
