Recent Yucatan, Mayan Riviera reviews

  • Beautiful location, property was as advertised--we will be back!

"Our entire experience was wonderful. The property was great. It is just far enough away from Akumal bay to be away from the people, but close enough to make quick trips to snorkel, dine, etc. When we got there we were a little disappointed because there was a lot of sea weed in the water directly behind the condo; however, it cleared up the next day, and was clear enough for swimming and snorkeling right behind the condo the rest of our trip. The condo was clean and had plenty of room. We will likely be back!"

  • Great Playa House

"We recently had a 10 day stay at Casa Vela and would echo earlier reviewers that it is exactly as advertised. It is a short walk from downtown Playa Del Carmen and the beaches. The house is very comfortable and with three bedrooms and bathrooms was perfect for my family. The pool is steps away from the unit and most days we were the only ones using it. Wifi was great and the owner provides a local cell phone. The Playacar gated community is very safe. We frequently walked into town and back late at night and there were no issues whatsoever. Although a car is not necessary (and a taxi from Mega or Walmart is 90 pesos), we enjoyed having a car to check out the area. We had a good experience renting in Playa from "America Car Rentals" (about 1/3 of the price given to us by Hertz). There is a good french bakery and a convenience store about a five minute walk from the House. Mayan ruins are scattered throughout the Playacar area. The nearby golf course (almost across the street) looked very nice. The owner was very helpful in answering questions ahead of time, and the the management was the most responsive I have had in numerous visits to Mexico. The maid did a fantastic job (even cleaning up after our two teenage boys which is never an easy task). If there was any downside, it was the Reef Club. The owner's card can get you in but only a maximum of four people and with a group of six we found it easier to find a beachfront place in town and to order a few coronas and steal an umbrella there. All in all it was a great experience and we hope to return."

  • Altamente recomendable

"Quiero expresarle mi satisfacción por la renta que realice de su casa. Francamente la felicito por el excelente mantenimiento y condiciones en las que se encuentra su casa. Las habitaciones nos parecieron de muy buen tamaño limpias y cómodas. Ver amanecer frente a tu habitación mientras te tomas un café no tiene precio!!! Muchas felicidades y estamos seguros de regresar."

  • The perfect getaway

"I booked our stay based soley on the previous reviews; everyone had such great things to say about their own visits that I was confident we (my boyfriend and I) would have a great time as well. Great is an understatement...we have been home 3 days now and I'm already thinking about when we can make a return visit. I had expectations of a relaxing beach side vacation, but was not prepared for how friendly everyone was--staff, locals, and fellow travelers alike, and the food! We ate at a different place each night and were never disappointed, Turtle Bay Cafe and Lol-Haa, I think are my favorite though. The room was beautiful and the beds are super comfortable, and Agostin, the property manager was very helpful with all of our questions."
