  • A nice condo in Playa

"The unit is accurately described in the listing, and the owner and local manager were responsive to a few very minor issues that came up. The owner’s method of receiving payments directly by Visa is trustworthy. The kitchen is well equipped, the AC was very good, the beds are very comfortable, TV was fine and the wireless internet was the best I’ve encountered in Mexico and about as good as you can hope for there. The location is excellent: a 10-15 min. walk to the beach and 5 min. walk to the many restaurants on 5th Ave, however the best and cheapest were all a block or two off 5th. The nice balcony off the dining area that overlooks the pool was great for morning coffee, but can be a bit uncomfortable when there are people sitting on the balcony in front of it. However the real gem of the unit is the large and completely private rooftop terrace. There are a couple of good lounge chairs, and there is both sun and shade on it virtually all day. The tub on it is a hydro-tub, i.e. a large 1-person bathtub with jets. The pool area and grounds are very clean and well maintained. The pool is quite large and there are 10 lounge chairs around it. We were almost always able to get lounge chairs although a few times it was the last 1 or 2, however we were there in high season when likely all units were occupied. A few more chairs would help but, if worse comes to worst you can always have a dip in the pool and then head up to the private rooftop terrace. Entry requires climbing 2 flights of stairs which might be a challenge for people with mobility issues. The building was very quite, with most of the units occupied by retired couples. There is a large balcony off one bedroom and a small one off the other, however they both look out onto the street and there is little reason to ever use them. This brings up the only real problem with the unit: there is a major construction project going on across the street starting at 7AM. While the noise didn’t bother us too much (mainly because, unbelievably, they were using almost no power equipment) there were a few short very noisy periods. Unfortunately, there is nothing the owner or anyone else can do about this, so check with him on this if you’re sensitive to construction noise. Hopefully this will end in several months. Our electricity charge was US$30/wk, though we used very little AC. My only other suggestion: the small sofa in the living room is in great need of replacement."

  • Loved the Penthouse!

"My wife and I stayed in the penthouse for 3 nights after a 5 night stay on the south end with family. What a wonderful relaxing retreat! The views are awesome from the porch and the bedroom. The plunge pool was the highlight as we finished off every night with a refreshing dip. The kitchen and lower level had everything we needed and we also liked the little porch on the front side that we would sit on in the morning with our coffee. We also got to try Da Luisa next door for the first time. They delivered breakfast to our porch - what a pleasant surprise! It's away from the noise and bustle of centro but close enough to everything for convenience. Thank you Michael and Rose for sharing your lovely property with us. We'll be back!"

  • A Very Nice Place to Stay with a Family

"This condo was clean and pretty much exactly as presented on VRBO. The location is great, we were pretty surprised by how amazing snorkelling was right off the beach behind our condo. If you're going to be new to Cozumel, the transportation might require a little more planning than if you stay in a resort but we didn't have any material problems getting taxis. The pool is clean and a great temperature. Our kids pretty much hogged it from everyone else. Kitchen is pretty well equipped although we were a little surprised at some things that are apprently not standard in a Mexican kitchen, like a toaster or a kettle. The drinking water that was provided was ample and key since you don't drink tap water anywhere on the island. Maid service was regular and effective. Management was responsive to concerns and questions. I think for the price we paid you can't go wrong with this place, especially with a family. Thanks Bob, Diana and Jordi!"

  • The fabulous Sol y Luna

"Our extend family celebrated several special birthdays for a week at this wonderful Villa. We were so excited to have ample space for 10 of us ages 11-80. The villa is truly as pictured, beautifully situated with wonderful outdoor spaces, porches and pool decks. Indoor living spaces are comfortable as well. The staff is outstanding. Alba and Loida keep the indoors immaculate. Don Pedro and Matteo are constantly clearing up outside. Don Pedro brought our grand kids extra boggie boards, life jackets and pulled coconuts from trees for them. Our biggest treat was meals made by Ishmael, Norma and Luisa. They were fresh, so flavorful and incredibly flavorful! Every day was a treat for everyone of us. The trip was special and made more so by having use of the villa."
