Tuckasegee pet-friendly rentals

We enjoyed our 3 night getaway to the Cottage. It was comfortable, restful and quiet. Off the beaten path, yet it was a 15 minute ride to Cashiers or Highlands. We cooked steaks on the grill and enjoyed the outside furniture while reading, and internet surfing. Birdie, our English Springer Spaniel played in the woods and the Brook. Mike is a fly fisherman. Jackson County offers a great many streams. The cottage had brochures for excursions… We did two: 1) a rigorous hike from Glenville Lake to High Falls on W Fork of Tuckasegee. It’s 3/4 mile one way but a 300 ft plus elevation drop. Caught an 8” Brook Trout in pool below falls. Coming back out will get your heart rate up. 2) Day trip to the Chatooga River south of Cashiers and Highlands. We had a pleasant picnic and I flyfished. If we have any complaints… the largest mattress is a little soft for us. And the outside needs some cobwebs brushed down. These are minor things. It is an old cottage, simple, quaint and restful. Gig our host is a gracious gentleman and a brother in Christ. He was very responsive to our emails. He loved Birdie. We plan to return to this Cashiers Cottage in 2025. Mike & Marita

The house was a great home base for us to unwind after a day on the lake or on the mountain. Bear Lake Reserve has a lot to offer and was a lot of fun. Hiking, boating, and club activities kept us busy. One night we did have a bear outside at the garbage can. We kept our distance and all was good. It’s not called Bear Lake Reserve to be cute.

When I saw the pic on vrbo I didn’t believe it- but it’s true! That is exactly what it looks like off the deck! Close enough you can hear the falls inside. Just beautiful!! Host responds quickly to questions. Great welcome pack on arrival. Parking can be tight if you have a pick up ( Ford F-150 ). Every kitchen appliance you can think of. Great stay!

Really enjoyed the Cabin! Had a wonderful time!

This was the most adorable little cabin. Everything fit our needs so nicely. This was a short hiking trip before heading over to family for the Thanksgiving holiday, and the cabin had everything we needed for the few days we were visiting. The place is not exactly isolated but it absolutely felt like it was. It was so quiet and peaceful, and though you can see the highway from the deck, it wasn't loud. There's a great view of the surrounding mountains, and the private drive was awesome. We always love staying up in the mountains and this was perfect. I felt there were two tiny design flaws in the cabin, both of which could be easily fixed. There's a shelf above the sink in the bathroom that really hindered the sink's use. Not a huge deal but quite annoying, lol. I feel it would have been better suited over the toilet or even to the side of the sink rather than directly above it. The second is the wall separating the living room and bedroom isn't a complete wall to the ceiling, and as such, the tv noise is very loud in the bedroom. Again more of an annoyance than a negative towards the cabin -- neither is a negative towards the overall stay. We enjoyed this stay, and if we ever find ourselves in this area again, we'd definitely look here first.

Qualla Cabin is a short distance from a highway, yet a world apart from every day. The property has miles of views, yet no homes or roads spoil the view. All one can see is trees, sky, and birds. The sunsets are amazing; the privacy is perfection. The cabin is new, with modern appliances and amenities, yet homey and warm. Captain Tony and Nancy will feel like friends you've known for years. Come get away from the hustle and bustle and recharge your soul.

The house is absolutely beautiful! Every convenience of home was available. The fire pit area and outdoor deck are great for outside meals and fun. The house is about 30 minutes from so many activities. The owners were very responsive to our questions. The house was clean, very modern, and beautifully decorated. I would stay here again and I absolutely recommend this house to other travelers!!!!!

This place is wonderful and the owner was so easy to work with. We plan to stay here again in the future.
