  • Tranquil Relaxing bit of Paradise

"After a hectic and exhausting week at the Rio Olympics (which was most enjoyable), Casa Tataruga was just what the doctor ordered!! It was like being cast away on your own desert island away from modern life but with all the mod cons on hand. The whole experience was an adventure.....the peace and tranquility of where the house is situated, being able to connect with a world that normally doesn't exist in our everyday lives. Yara was fantastic in ensuring that our needs were catered for and ensured that our holiday was everything that we had hoped for. Some of the largest prawns I have ever seen would appear via Suelee who also prepared a mean creme caramel for us. Yara arranged for a trip to a mountain village where we just happened to stop off at a distillery at 1000 for some light refreshment, a lavender farm owned by an Englishman in the middle of nowhere, then on to various pottery studios and finally to a hidden restaurant where the owner prepared a delicious lunch in very tranquil setting. There is a secluded beach next door to the house with a school which is populated by a small group of young children who arrive in the morning by boat!!! We were also entertained one Sunday by a 5 a side soccer tournament on the beach. Casa Tartaruga lived up to its name when we saw a turtle languidly swimming by on more than one occasion. All in all it is a quiet, tranquil place - a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of life. The weather was hot and it was such a pleasure to be able to drop into the sea to cool off. I didn't use the kayak or paddle ski because it would entail a level of effort that I didn't want to muster. Batteries were fully charged when I returned to the UK. Can't wait to go back there."

  • Wonderful Property; Has it All

"My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful and special time here. Of course, this house can accommodate so many more than just the two of us. However, this property stood out due to its location and really beautiful photos. Seeing it in person, we were not disappointed. What a beautiful property and location. The house has everything you could want for comfort and the staff was so accommodating and sweet. Trygve and Nathalie helped us out tremendously as our travel agent pre-arranged excursions fell through. This ended up being a blessing as the excursion that Trygve set up for us; speed boating around the islands, lots of snorkeling and a fabulous lunch at a location only accessibly by boat in Mamangua Bay, was unforgettable. To top it off, he arranged it with an absolutely wonderful boat captain (Davi) who took the time to surprise us with photos he took of us while snorkeling with the beautiful emerald coast back grounds. We could not have wished for a more perfect day; absolute highlight of our trip and the meal in Mamangua Bay was the best we had while in Brazil. Trygve not only assisted us with the excursion in Paraty but also with safe/reliable transportation between Rio and Paraty and had a rental car waiting for us upon arrival in Paraty. So much to do at the property as well. We marveled at the beautiful sunsets every night while sipping some fabulous Caipirinhas at the little restaurant right next to the property. A very memorable vacation made even more remarkable by staying at this beautiful property owned by brilliant hosts."

  • Simplesmente maravilhoso

"Não tenho nem palavras pra descrever, foi tudo conforme o anúncio, lugar tranquilo, casa em ótimas condições, linda por sinal, sem contar a segurança do condomínio, bem pertinho das mais lindas cachoeiras, foi tudo perfeito. Pretendo voltar mais vezes com certeza. Obrigada ao dono da casa Marcelo."

"This house gave us an exotic, tropical and isolated but included easy access to the surrounding areas to explore. This is cute cottage style house with an amazing view of the bay. We arrived at the house using a rock as the boat dock. The dock itself is lovely. We spent most sunsets there and loved watching the sea turtles surfacing. We fished off the dock and caught numerous small fish. The yard is tiered from the dock up to the house with several sitting areas and gardens. There is a private beach a short 5-minute walk from the house, a beach bar about a 15-minute walk from the house and the fishing village is 20 minutes from the house. Most mornings we were visited by a family of marmosets. We also had a regular flock of parakeet’s in the surrounding trees every morning and every evening along with hummingbirds and other colorful birds. As a guest of the house, we were able to park within the gated marina. Going to and from the house to the marina was a short boat ride and we were free to explore. Our favorites were old town Paraty, Trinidade Piscina, Picinguaba and the Waterfall/Cachaca tour. The service was great! Bela, fluent in English, was our contact and was very responsive prior to our trip, assisting us in planning and then checking in on us during our stay. Claudia came by daily to clean the house. She even washed our cloths. We had her cook 3 meals for us. They were all fantastic. The octopus was my favorite. We had her shop for us twice during our stay. Victor was our boat captain who took us daily to Paraty and to the marina. He also took us fishing where we were able to also see some of the neighboring islands. This service was incredibly important to us and made our stay a great one! We do not speak Portuguese but learned a few words prior to our arrival and were able to communicate. At the house, there is electricity and the water is drinkable. The kitchen has all that you need to cook meals. A drip cup is provided for making coffee. A cooled ice storage is provided and you can make as much ice as you like. The shower included hot water. The windows are screened and fans are provided. The cool breeze and fans made it comfortable to sleep at night. Beach chairs were also provided, which we used frequently. If you want to get away from the masses, get back to the basics but be free to explore your surroundings, this is your place. Thank you Bela, Victor and Claudia for a memorable vacation!"
