  • The house is beautiful, fully equipped, and perfectly situated to explore all the sights.

"We stayed for a week with my self, my husband and two children aged 8 and 10. The house was perfect! We spent our evenings unwinding by the fireplace and mornings reading in bed before heading out to explore the area. The beds are great and beding is wonderfully warm and comfortable. Zarela lives in a house on the property and was helpful with our needs. She is even willing to prepare home cooked meals for a very reasonable price. It was wonderful to come home to dinner prepared after spending the day hiking. Cathy connected us to Isais who is a local guide. Again for a reasonable price he was willing to take us throughout the area and really help us absorb the culture. He was a wonderful guide and translator. He is also just a really great person that we enjoyed getting to know. Cathy was wonderfully responsive and helpful whenever we needed something. I would highly recommend this gem!"

  • Hospitality and so much more!

"We stayed a wonderful 2 weeks at Samana. The location is GREAT! Just a few miles from Plaza de Armas and a short walk to just about everything in Cusco. (btw if you are not up for a walk, you can get anywhere by taxi for just a few soles). Betty is the hostess with the mostest. She will set up tours for you if that is what you prefer. She had our trip planned out so that we could do Machu Picchu, as well as seeing all the sites around Cusco. Breakfast was included and was excellent. It was great to try out authentic Peruvian cuisine. The apartment was very spacious, modern and clean. There is nothing that I would have changed about our time there. Thank you for a great experience."

  • Excellent location - watch out for hidden costs / poor internet

"Our stay would have earned Villa Runa a five star rating if it weren't for a few problems/issues: - The internet did not work reliably. A few of us (unfortunately) had work to do that could not be addressed because of the lack of internet. Staff did work at helping us. - There is no heat in the house other than firewood. It gets cold at night. You will be charged for using the firewood. - Although there are a washer and dryer, these are located outside and you are not encouraged / allowed to do your own laundry. If you allow the housekeeper to do the laundry, you will be charged for this service. - Should you decide to cook your own meal and ask (and pay) for staff to purchase/gather the foodstuff you need, you will be charged for the service (normal if it goes to the staff doing the work) by the owner. We did not feel this was fair or right. In addition, although the house is advertised as having three bedrooms plus the mezzanine, the third bedroom was NOT made available to us. This meant that one of our people had to sleep in the mezzanine along with the child in our party which was not at all restful for the adult in question. The third bedroom was used by a friend of the owner, and later by the owner but not by us - it is a separate room that can be locked and can be kept separate from the rest of the house. Overall, however, we found that the property was well-maintained, beautiful and provided a restful escape for our family. I will not recommend the house to people age 55+ unless in good health, especially if there are several people in that age group as the room with a single on the main floor may not be available for their use, should the owner decide thus. The staff was excellent and made us feel very welcome. However, at the very end of our stay, we felt that we were rushed out of the house as the owner was expecting guests in the afternoon and, although we'd said we would leave by 11, we were hurried out at 10 am. In addition, we were asked to pay additional monies for the use of the washer and dryer and for the extra meal we had asked and paid for already. It seemed... petty."

  • Location, beauty, people - all top notch!

"I wanted to spoil myself for my birthday, and I am still pinching myself. This was perfect. Having walked 3 days through as many streets I could find, this location is absolutely my favorite. Beautifully appointed. The staff were extremely helpful, the food was great. Only wish I had stayed longer. Thank you so much!"
