Good wifi. Furniture is nice. Medium size fridge. Good amenities. Center of roof is all skylight so you get lighting which will be nice in more overcast/cooler months. No AC which is usual for San Juans. This is a new property to the property managers and we strongly suggest the owners install some screens on the downstairs windows and door to allow the house to get cooled down in the later afternoon without letting in too many mosquitos (which weren't too bad honestly).

We had a family wedding on San Juan Island and this cottage was the perfect spot for our stay. Close driving distance from Friday Harbor and the ferry landing, and walking distance to several beach spots. I appreciated the craftsmanship and charm of the cottage and it came equipped with everything we needed for our extended weekend get-away.

The house and property were stunning and so much better than we expected.

We love The Lookout. It was our fourth time staying here, and we hope to keep coming back!

Great location ,nice and quiet. The bed is very comfortable. Hosts responded to messages in a timely manner. We will definitely book again !

Where do I begin? Communication with owner was outstanding. She was very prompt with her responses. Check in super easy with a code. The house itself was beautiful and very well appointed. Lots of spices, ketchup, mayo, etc. Tons of kitchen tools. The owner even left us wood and kindling to make a fire in the wood stove. The deck was a great place to hang out with beautiful views. No neighbors and Friday Harbor was about 8 minutes away. Probably the best VRBO experience I’ve had.

In this challenging time, we were so excited to get out of the house and spend some quiet time on Orcas Island. The Cottage-in-the-Barn did not disappoint! The cottage was clean and had all of the amenities we needed to keep our family of four (kids are aged 5 and 7) happy for four nights. The kids loved climbing up and down the ladder to their loft, the chickens (and plentiful eggs), the garden, Sammy the dog's visit, the board games, and riding their bikes on a dirt path right next to the cottage when we weren't out exploring the island. One key detail is that this cottage has blackout shades on almost every window! This is something we rarely see in rental properties. The shades (and comfy beds) made for nice long nights of sleep for all of us. Thank you!!
