  • Good, but could be great

"This is my first time staying at the Phoenix West condo. Overall, the building is a step up from the usual Orange Beach properties, but a notch below the gold standard, Turquoise Place in terms of overall finishes and grandeur. The bedrooms are spacious, it's great to have 4 full baths, and the dining/living/kitchen open floor plan is well designed. Unit 1204 is where we stayed, and, while good, it shows signs of being a high usage rental. There were areas of chipped paint off the walls, the toilet seats had some paint chipped or rubbed off, and the screen door to the balcony was torn. The ice machine in the refrigerator had a large cluster of ice frozen together, and wasn't usable; thankfully, there was a nice standalone ice maker that fit the bill. All of these are cosmetic issues and not huge deals. The main issues I had were with maintenance and cleaning. The balcony had some debris on the floor and looked like it hadn't been swept prior to our arrival, and then we found a dirty sock underneath the comforter in the master bedroom. Finally, the bathtub in one of the rooms was not draining. It took over 10 hours for a plumber to get to our unit and fix the problem. The maintenance contact person wasn't the most pleasant to deal with over the phone. The positives were that the owner charged a reasonable off-peak summer rate and was responsive to my concerns. The unit itself is located near the elevator, so there isn't much walking from door to beach. The beds were comfortable, the dual headed shower in the master bathroom is a nice touch, and (outside of the fridge icemaker) the appliances were in working condition."

  • Perfect Condo

"This condo is located on the first floor with great access to the pool area. Additionally, it is shaded in the evening, and a cool breeze is always coming through the patio doors. I love being at this condo because of it's great access and it's size. The Property managers are also great! They take care of every need! I will be back, again, and again!"

  • Our new favorite place to stay in Orange Beach

"This condo is definitely a step up from the complex we had stayed the previous 10 years we had visited Orange Beach. With 4 of us we still had beds to spare and could each have a bathroom to ourselves. The lazy river was the real draw for me. It's a big amenity that you can't find in many places in the area. The only bad thing I can think of was that the condo was almost too nice and I was afraid I would mess something up. My wife has already asked if we can book it again this fall and this same time next year. We will certainly be back."

  • 12th floor corner unit with wrap around balcony had awesome views and comfy outdoor seating

"Overall, our vacation experience was good. The unit was tastefully decorated and had enough comfortable seating for 2 families of 8 people (4 adults and 4 kids). The wrap-around balcony was awesome with nice seating and beautiful views. The grounds were neat and the pool areas were kept clean. However, there could be some improvements made to the unit itself. The queen bed in the guest bedroom could stand to be replaced--it was not comfortable and squeaked every time you moved or sat down on it. Also, the sheets didn't fit that bed. The unit could use a deep cleaning, as there was dust build-up on areas such as the baseboard trim and cabinets. The shower/tub in the guest bathroom was very slow to drain and there was mildew on the master bath shower curtain liner. The full-size washer and dryer were nice to have as the unit only had 8 towels and 8 washcloths, which lasted us for only 1 day since there were 8 of us. Also, it would be good to stock the kitchen with more than just one dishtowel. Since there were 8 of us, we traveled in 2 cars. There was only 1 parking permit that was covered in the price of the rental and an additional permit had to be purchased at a local realty office prior to our arrival. The extra permit was an additional $25 (when it was quoted to only be $20 in the check-in paperwork I had received). In the future, I will probably stay in this complex again and possibly even in this unit. The unit would be excellent with some simple improvements!"
