  • Delightful property-I hope to stay here again on future visit

"We loved the apartment for our time in Anchorage. It was so spacious, clean with comfortable beds and nice linens, and shades for going to bed at 10:30 PM when it is still light outside. The location was perfect to access the main highways both north and south for our day adventure trips. As a family with young adults, we did a ton of hiking, and Sue was gracious to lend a cooler, so we could pack our picnic lunches for the day. Beautiful plants, and well maintained property. Sue is a delightful hostess-we loved our little chats, and were delighted with the local company she suggested for kayaking in Whittier. Initially, my oldest daughter was concerned that we were not staying downtown, but she quickly learned that there is not much of a "scene" for her age. We can't wait to come back!"

  • Beautiful experience!

"Our family so enjoyed our stay in this cozy little cabin in a beautiful setting. Binget was a wonderful hostess who greeted us upon arrival and had a delicious loaf of Swedish cardamom bread waiting for us. Everything about the well-appointed cabin was comfortable and clean. We enjoyed playing cards in the breakfast nook. The location is convenient to Seward and easy to find."

  • Mixed thoughts...

"This one was tough to review. Would liked to have given it 3.5 stars There are so many wonderful things, but a few drawbacks as well. Other reviews are so positive that I was surprised that we were slightly disappointed. I think it could be a great choice, provided that you carefully consider whether or not it will meet your needs. Here are our thoughts: Pros: * The cottage is lovely. Its very well decorated and thoughtfully furnished. It was also well stocked with things not always provided such as bath soap, laundry soap, trash bags, etc. Quality fixtures throughout and a nice spacious bathroom. * Linens were of good quality and nicely organized/labeled so that it made finding additional linens for the sofa bed very easy. * The sofa bed is of good quality and that is a rarity in our experience. We really appreciated that. * The location is terrific. We enjoyed walking to the 'downtown' area to eat at restaurants, visit shops, and tour the Sea Life Center. We drove to the harbor, but its a quick easy drive and there is free 2 hour parking. Cons: *The cottage is roomy for its age, but we found it a bit tight for our needs. It didn't offer as much privacy as one might desire. *The bunk beds would work well for young children I think, but we have two 6 ft tall teen boys. Our 15 year old was unable to comfortably access the top bunk because it is so closed to the ceiling. He opted to sleep on the sofa bed instead. The bunk is also pushed against the wall which offers added space in the room, but that would mean that a couple using the bed would have to crawl over their partner to get up in the middle of the night. * By far, the biggest negative for us was the queen mattress in the master bedroom. While mattresses are always a matter of preference, the issue here was that when you laid down on mattress, it sunk down in the middle severely. For two people sharing the bed, you each felt as if you were sleeping on a hill. It made for an uncomfortable night sleep as you continuously struggled not to roll into the middle and one another. After the first night, I slept in the chair in the living room since my son was already on the sofa and the top bunk was hard to access. Overall, the owners have put a lot of thought and effort into making this a lovely home and it shows. And I think it would be a great choice for a couple or a young family. For 4 adults/teens, it may not be the perfect fit."
