  • Mixed thoughts...

"This one was tough to review. Would liked to have given it 3.5 stars There are so many wonderful things, but a few drawbacks as well. Other reviews are so positive that I was surprised that we were slightly disappointed. I think it could be a great choice, provided that you carefully consider whether or not it will meet your needs. Here are our thoughts: Pros: * The cottage is lovely. Its very well decorated and thoughtfully furnished. It was also well stocked with things not always provided such as bath soap, laundry soap, trash bags, etc. Quality fixtures throughout and a nice spacious bathroom. * Linens were of good quality and nicely organized/labeled so that it made finding additional linens for the sofa bed very easy. * The sofa bed is of good quality and that is a rarity in our experience. We really appreciated that. * The location is terrific. We enjoyed walking to the 'downtown' area to eat at restaurants, visit shops, and tour the Sea Life Center. We drove to the harbor, but its a quick easy drive and there is free 2 hour parking. Cons: *The cottage is roomy for its age, but we found it a bit tight for our needs. It didn't offer as much privacy as one might desire. *The bunk beds would work well for young children I think, but we have two 6 ft tall teen boys. Our 15 year old was unable to comfortably access the top bunk because it is so closed to the ceiling. He opted to sleep on the sofa bed instead. The bunk is also pushed against the wall which offers added space in the room, but that would mean that a couple using the bed would have to crawl over their partner to get up in the middle of the night. * By far, the biggest negative for us was the queen mattress in the master bedroom. While mattresses are always a matter of preference, the issue here was that when you laid down on mattress, it sunk down in the middle severely. For two people sharing the bed, you each felt as if you were sleeping on a hill. It made for an uncomfortable night sleep as you continuously struggled not to roll into the middle and one another. After the first night, I slept in the chair in the living room since my son was already on the sofa and the top bunk was hard to access. Overall, the owners have put a lot of thought and effort into making this a lovely home and it shows. And I think it would be a great choice for a couple or a young family. For 4 adults/teens, it may not be the perfect fit."

  • A wonderful place to stay

"When we arrived, it was a beautiful clear day, the curtains were gently flapping in the open windows, and the 360 degree view (even from the shower!) was spectacular. Except for one unevenness in the king sized bed, the place was supremely comfortable. It was also clean and well-provisioned. The separate entrance allowed us to come and go without disturbing our hosts. If returning to Seward, we would definitely book this place again."

  • Great Place

"So happy to have found this place. Communication with Jodi was easy and prompt. Property was very clean and well equipped. We used to gas grill and had everything we needed to prepare dinner. Its within easy walking distance of the Sea Life Center and downtown Seward. Awesome view of Resurrection Bay and surrounding mountains from the kitchen window and balcony. Will definitely stay here again if we return to Seward."

  • Great cozy cottage

"The garden cottage is clean, quiet, and comfortable. We really enjoyed the house with the fire pit, garden, and visits from the dog. We had six adults in the house and the 3 bedrooms and 2 baths worked well. Kate was a great host. We especially appreciated the salmon cream cheese, bagels, yogurt, granola, etc since we arrived around midnight after a very long travel day. The cottage is only a few minutes from Seward in a quiet area. My one suggestion for improvement would be mirrors close to outlets in the bedrooms so that personal grooming needs not be done in the bathroom, leaving the bathrooms for other needs."
