  • We really enjoyed our stay with Linnea and Shane. Their home is lovely and well supplied.

"We were thrilled with our stay in Seward. We had spectacular weather and enjoyed some fantastic hikes. Shane and Lunnea were very helpful and gave us good suggestions on activities and restaurants. The location was great for us as it was close to some of our hiking trailheads. The apartment was very clean."

  • Spacious downtown apartment

"My friend and I stayed for 3 nights in Apt. #3 in late August 2016. We had a car. You can't beat the location if you like to be in the center of town. It is in a historic building on the second floor so you have to walk up a flight of stairs. There is a chair lift but I have no idea if it works. Parking is on the street and we never had trouble finding parking on the few times we actually chose to drive in Seward. When you enter the building it is immediately apparent that this is a really old, musty and creaky building. The hallways are small and narrow. Our unit was very large and very vintage. Aside from the musty smell and the very poor WiFi connection, it was really nice. The manager was kind enough to bring a hairdryer at my request before we arrived. I noticed there already was a hairdryer in the bathroom drawer so we had two. The living room is large. The couch is not so comfortable but not terrible. There is a lot of closet and cabinet space in the apartment and it is well appointed with the basic necessities like a wine opener and wine glasses. ;) The bed had a foam top that was like sleeping on a cloud! The quilt and pillow covers were gorgeous and the closets were huge. The only thing is that there was hardly any shampoo or conditioner in the full size bottles in the shower and only one tiny travel size bottle of shampoo on the counter. However, the bathroom had a cute decorative boat with little soaps and toiletries to make your stay nicer and we had the perfect amount of towels (4 full size bath towels for two women plus smaller towels). If you can get past the almost haunted vibe of this building and poor WiFi connection, this place is spacious, clean and comfortable. You can walk all over Seward from this location. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again."

  • Nice artistic touches make it feel like home, and even the shower has a view.

"We really enjoyed our stay, and the artistic touches throughout the place were a pleasant surprise - the listing photos don't quite do justice to the quality of the space. Even with really rainy weather we could still enjoy the amazing views. It was actually great to have a place where you could sit inside when it was raining and still look out at the beautiful scenery, rather than feeling like you were just losing your vacation by hiding inside somewhere. Even the shower has probably the best view of any shower in Seward - Mt. Marathon! The owner quickly and pleasantly introduced himself once we pulled into the driveway. The space is great, and location is perfect - we walked downtown for coffee and bagels at the Resurrection Art coffee shop in the morning and for dinner at the Cookery in the evening. The bedrooms were comfortable, and the overall layout with the open kitchen/living space works well for a social traveling group. However, the bedrooms are immediately off the living room, so it might not work well for a group that has some people who want to go to bed early and some who don't. I'm not sure it was clear in the posting that there isn't exactly a normal dining table - dining seating is just at the kitchen bar - but this wasn't an issue for us. The kitchen was better equipped than the rental we had been in the night before in Anchorage. It took us a bit to find the laundry detergent tucked away downstairs, but we did eventually find it before we had to ask the owners. Overall we didn't have a single complaint and really enjoyed our stay. Our one request or recommendation to the owners would be to invest in heavier-duty bar stools for the dining space, as we had to keep a close eye on our 11 month old to ensure he didn't grab the leg of one and tip it over on his head."

  • Spring Break Relaxation

"My husband and I visited the Chenega cabin at Kenai Lake last spring break and had such a fabulous time that we decided to come back again- this time trying out the beautiful Yakutat. As expected, we had an amazing time. The cabin is so pretty, styled in an Alaskan antique/Scandinavian way. We loved sitting in front of the fire in the cozy chairs and reading with our morning coffee. It was awesome to watch the sun rise and turn the mountains pink. The kitchen has everything you would need- including beautiful wine glasses! We snowshoed in the woods and walked on the frozen lake. We even used the hand auger to drill a hole in the ice and do a little fishing (no luck...). The daily sauna was perhaps our favorite part. It was such a joy to play outside in the snow and then enter a hot sauna. We slept like a rock each night of our stay. Jan-Ake has a very special property that we could highly recommend to anyone. We just hope it doesn't get so busy that we can't come back! ;)"
