  • All you need to bring is your sense of adventure!

"My wife and I spent 2 weeks at the cabin this summer and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Al and Cheryl went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed for a first-class vacation. We were there primarily for the fishing and were not disappointed. Al provides top notch boats and all the fishing gear you would ever need, making it easy for us to load up on salmon, halibut, crab, shrimp and rock fish. After spending a long day on the water it was great to get back to the well-appointed cabin and enjoy the fabulous view. There were plenty of other fun activities to keep us busy when we weren’t fishing. We rented one of their SUV’s for our stay and drove all over Prince of Wales, exploring a large part of the island. Visits to the El Capitan Cave, Luck Lake and Sarkar Lake were all great adventures. All in all we could not have been more pleased with our stay and will be counting the days until we get back to Coffman Cove"

  • I'm already booked for next year!

"I’ve just returned from my grand adventure at Whale Point Cabin. Out of six trips to Alaska, this one was the show stopper. Bill Cahill is the best host that I’ve had in all of my travels, barring none. He went out of his way to help me coordinate my transportation from Ketchikan to Prince of Wales Island. He answered my many questions and provided information that enhanced my stay. Whale Point Cabin is a cozy, well equipped cabin with an astounding view of Clarence Straight, Mountains and peaks of Canadian glacial mountains 65 miles away on a clear day. I watched humpbacked Whales feed every day with frequent sightings of Orcas, seals, the resident Eagle behind the cabin and the neighborhood Sitka Blacktail fawn that ate carrots from my hand and liked to be scratched behind her ears. I fished, hiked and explored the island from Red Lake to Whale Pass, Thorne Bay, the El Capitan Caves, the Klawock, Thorne and Neck Rivers and numerous creeks and lakes. Fresh caught Silver Salmon were smoked regularly on the smoker at the cabin. I enjoyed many evening fires while watching the whales frolic and listening to them sound out in Clarence Straight. The majesty of Whale Point Cabin and the Prince of Whales is unparalleled. For the artist and photographers, Prince of Wales Island provides infinite opportunities and inspiration. I shot volumes of sunsets, sunrises and wildlife from Whale Point Cabin, scratching the surface of the infinite material that abounds there alone. The same is true for opportunities to fish for salmon, trout, halibut and crab. I could write pages upon pages of what I saw and experienced during my stay at Whale Point Cabin. However, the best recommendation that I can give is to contact Bill Cahill at Whale Point Cabin and book a stay. It will be the experience of a lifetime that you won’t soon forget."

  • Loved the cabin & Coffman Cove

"I loved the cabin. Decorated nicely & very clean. I rented a truck (vehicle is necessary ). I flew by float plane into Thorne Bay. Awesome beautiful flight! The cabin was easy to find. Everyone in town was very friendly and had lots of suggestions! I rented one of Warners boats & fished & went crabbing. We had a feast!! It was fantastic being off the grid! I did get wifi at the library in town. Everything I needed was at the Riggin Shack to include fishing license! I suggest you get groceries in Craig or Klawock before driving to Coffman. I will be back this summer!!"
