  • The Perfect Destination...

"Petersburg is a lovely place…quiet, charming and most of all no cruise ships! This was our third visit and this time I was looking for a house to rent, since we were taking our two grandkids, who are almost 12. The Lucky Loon seemed to be the perfect place and it was. The scenery from the living room was spectacular! The accommodations great with two kids, since it gave us our space too…especially after a long day! We came by ferry from Bellingham, Washington and Louise was so gracious in picking us up at the ferry terminal. We opted not to rent a car and found it very easy to get around without one. We used City Cab when we needed to get into town and they were great…very friendly, as were all the locals. One day we walked to Sandy Beach at low tide, in search of the petroglyphs. Didn’t find them but the kids collected lots of shells. We had a great picnic and then discovered a wonderful trail to take us back to the Lucky Loon…The City Creek Trail! It is a must! I called it, "The Enchanted Forest". I am a hiker and I have never seen anything like it! The beauty of all the moss and unusual mushrooms, made it the most Enchanted Forest I had ever walked through. Louise had suggested the kids fish off the pier in Petersburg…mainly just for fun. They had a blast, catching a few herring and a halibut each… in the two days that they fished. That was part of the enticement to go to Alaska…so they each brought their poles and other fishing gear. Petr came to visit one evening to check our water supply. He and my husband had a nice talk. I am sorry we didn’t get to spend more time with Louise and Petr…Next time! Almost every day Louise would give us an update on the passing whales or the ones that had passed and we had missed. My most surprising visitor greeted me the first morning as we were having coffee on the deck. Out of the corner of my eye something brown jumped on the railing next to me and then onto the table in front of me, only to give this loud screech when he discovers me sitting there. Just as quickly, he jumps over the railing into the ferns below. I thought…What was that! A few mornings later almost at the same time, I go out by the kitchen and on my return hear the screech again…This time I saw my mystery friend…It was a squirrel! Thank you Louise and Petr for the most spectacular time ever…In Paradise! Most of all...Thanks for all the TLC and special things you did for us. I am sure we will return…"

  • Beauty, views and comfort

"This was my second visit to this Halibut Cove cabin. The views are unparalleled - mountain ranges and glaciers on one side, the bay and a lagoon on another side. We watched whales breaching each night from the highest spot on the property and then sat on the deck to watch the sun "set" each night. This cabin has a fully stocked modern kitchen for cooking, it also has an amazingly comfortable bed upstairs with views of mountains and water in 3 directions. There are shades on the windows to block the light at night so you can sleep. The bathroom was clean, stocked with soap, lotion, and shampoo and conditioner. There's running hot and cold water - which not all rental cabins in Halibut Cove have. Our hosts, Tracey and Vince, met us at the ferry and offered to take us and our bags up to the cabin. The cabin is about a 20 to 25 minute walk away from the ferry dock and Saltry restaurant. We ate lunch or dinner at the Saltry each day and cooked the rest of our meals at the cabin. If you enjoy solitude, spectacular scenery and are content to sit and read/eat/drink/cook/converse when not hiking or kayaking - this place is for you."

  • Great stay at Moose Manor

"We had a great time at Moose Manor. There was everything we needed and it was really clean, comfortable and cute. The moose theme goes throughout. Loved the mountain views, quiet neighbors on a dead end road. We are repeat renters and will be back! Donna and Wayne"
