"This home is nice and has a great location.
My Wife and daughters arrived 15 minutes early just as the housekeeper was leaving and we waited until the 4pm arrival time to enter the home. The home is well decorated and had everything you need to make it your home for the week. The house has great views since it sits just below the airport. Upon arrival, we read over the notes the owner leaves for the guests, such as the Wi-Fi password, how to use the fire pit, and to let him know right away if there is any damage or if something is not working. When we first got into the home and unpacked, my wife (who is a clean freak) took a look at the washer and dryer to make sure it was clean before we needed to use it. What she found was mud caked inside the washing machine and dried mud covering the drum in the dryer and the lint screen missing. After spending about 2 hours cleaning the washer and dryer, I sent the owner a message via this site and told him what we have found and did not get a response from him until our week was over. Needless to say, we did not use the washer and dryer because we don't know if we got all the mud out and did not want to have clean muddy clothes. I really don't care that I had to spend 2 hours cleaning the machines, things happen. But, what I do not appreciate is the owner getting back to me almost two weeks after I informed him of the issue and blaming me for what we found upon arrival. He sent me a message saying he was there with the cleaning lady and the washer and dryer did not have mud in them and the lint trap was there just before we arrived and I should check with one of my guests to see if they took the lint screen. My family and I did not travel over 2,000 miles and pay $1,200 to wash muddy clothes and commandeer a lint trap. So, the reply I got from the owner is that he was going to keep $142 of my damage deposit to replace the lint trap and have a service tech clean the dryer exhaust because it posed a fire risk.
I liked the house and location, but I don't think I would stay there again because of this issue. The owner said he was there with the cleaning lady, but the cleaning lady we saw when we arrived was by herself. I guess I have learned my lesson on renting vacation homes. I will inspect the home upon arrival and take a video and pictures with a date/time stamp of any damage I find and sent it to the owner instead of being a nice guy and fixing/cleaning what I find."
