  • Joyful in June!

"My wife and I stayed in this beautiful home and were riveted to the rushing waters of the East Verde river right in the backyard. Best therapy ever! The house itself had every comfort we needed and the access from the Phoenix metro area is so incredibly convenient - fewer than 2 hours to get there...and we felt a million miles away! Hiking trails nearby include the Arizona Trail and the amazing Waterwheel waterfalls. We highly recommend this wonderful retreat. We especially love the owners. Nicest.People.Ever!!"

  • Complete luxury in the pines

"If you want luxury and a wonderful outdoor setting, this is the place. Every morning we all sat on the spacious deck waiting for the Elk to arrive for the morning drink out of the large pond in the yard of the house. A mountain escape with all the comforts of home and then some."

  • Cozy Cabin provides a great stay!

"Our family of five had a great 2 night stay! The cabin itself had all the comforts of home, but was rustic enough to give the true cabin feel. It had a great lay out that had lots of area for being together, but was spread out enough to give us alone team when needed. It's stocked with everything. No TV channels, but a large TV for DVD viewing. THERE IS GREAT INTERNET SERVICE! We crammed tons of fun into the 3 days. After getting there early Saturday, we picnicked on the spacious front deck. NICE TOUCH was a book on the coffee table that told all about the history of Kohl's Ranch...very cool if you like that kind of thing. Later, we walked down to the creek. There are several ways to get there. If you head back down the road the way you came in there's a wash about 1/4 of a mile from the cabin. You can see Kohl's Ranch on the other side of the creek. If you go the opposite way down the road there's a very narrow public access trail. (watch for the barbed wire) right before you get to Tonto Creek Camp (where Arizona State University Football does pre-season camp!! I had no idea.) Also more of the creek across the highway in the camping area. Kids loved the covered swing at the cabin and the squirrels. We used the grill and picnic table in the back for one meal. Went to nearby Fish Hatchery... something cool and different. Payson is close enough for dining. We ate at Mackey's Diner. Sooo good! Back at the cabin, mostly peaceful, but a couple times lot's of barking dogs, not constant and you can't hear them in the cabin. Nice neighbors all around. Our little one was constantly romping around the property. Lot's of really cool little things that make this place special. Fireplace was ready to go, but we didn't use it. Close to lots of stuff. We will have to come back when we can go fishing and visit a few more places. We caught a movie and ate at Mike's Fish and Chips (yum) on the way out through Payson. We recommend this cabin and hope to return. Bonus: Owner was great to work with and was available by text and e-mail when needed."
