    Pretty House

    5 of 5
In Spanish, Casa Bonita means "pretty house" and this little casita just north of the campus of the University of Arizona is indeed a pretty house. I recently spent nearly a week in Casa Bonita, with summer monsoon thunderstorms arriving daily, and it was the quintessential Tucson experience. Tucked into the front yard of a similarly styled, but much more grand, southwest style home in Tucson, this casita had everything I was looking for. A quiet street, a spacious layout for 1-2 persons, a very comfortable bed and soft linens, a full kitchen, and a decor that reminded me of everything I loved about living in Tucson decades ago. My hosts, Bonnie and Steve, who live in the grand house, gave me a thorough orientation on the first morning that I arrived. They had wine and water chilling in the refrigerator, along with a half-dozen farm fresh eggs! But after that I felt like I was living in my own home, and almost forgot that I even had neighbors! That's my kind of host. If you are looking for peaceful Tucson living for a few days, Casa Bonita is the pretty house for you.
