  • Canyon Hideaway

"Enjoyed the month of December in this nicely laid out and decorated condo in a quiet neighbourhood at the base of the Catalina Mountains. Fabulous desert canyon walk/hike right out of the back gate of the complex. Only draw back is it is a bit of a drive to many attractions such as the museums and galleries downtown (30 minutes) or the Desert Museum, Old Tucson, and Mission San Xavier del Bac (40-50 minutes). Major carnivores may be put off by the lack of a grill on the pleasant screened deck/porch. Great resort golf course next door."

  • Location, location, location!

"Just two miles from the Saguaro National Park in a quiet desert area, this has to be the best place for a Tucson vacation. John and Steffi know the area well; it is almost like having your own tour guide. Breakfast is a gourmet being of your day. We stayed in the guest house, which was comfortable and quaint. A refrigerator and cooking utensils are provided. We only made ourselves tea at night because, after all, I was on vacation. A hotplate is also provided, but I don't think that you would want to do anything fancy or complicated on it. We are thinking about meeting family here to let our granddaughter swim, hike, horseback ride and visit the Desert Museum."

  • A perfect stay

"House was just what we needed for my husband, daughter, and I. The backyard was amazing - we all loved jumping on the trampoline. The hosts were also very friendly and welcoming. Wish we could have stayed longer."

  • The Perfect Place for Us

"My wife and I spent 2 weeks in January at La Casita, Jim and Karen's place in the Saguaro Mountain foothills.  It was the perfect place for us.  The casita was spacious, comfortable and quiet -- much larger in real life than in the pictures on VRBO. The living room has big cushy chairs and blankets to cozy up in, a big-screen TV for those interested, and lots of earthy Southwestern charm. It's located in the foothills of the Saguaro National Park West just minutes from some fabulous trailheads.  One of our favorites was the Sweetwater Trail only 5 minutes away (other favorites further afield included the Hugh Norris Trail, the Douglas Spring Trail and the Phoneline Trail).  Karen and Jim live next door and were extremely warm and helpful with anything we needed. Karen even lent my wife a pair of her new hiking boots so my wife could try them out. It was unusually cold when we were there or we would have eaten more breakfasts and some dinners outside on the back sitting area looking at Karen's beautiful desert garden and mountains in the distance. The way the casita is oriented you can catch sunrise out back and sunset out front. We were able to use Karen and Jim's hot tub when we wanted, watching the clear stars overhead, and their small pool is also available. The trade-off with being in such a beautiful setting is that restaurants and food shopping are between 10 and 20 minutes away, but it was always so nice coming "home" at the end of the day."
