  • Perfect week at the perfect house!

"Our stay at La Hacienda Del Mayar was PERFECT! We got married in Elgin, AZ and made La Hacienda our home for the week leading up to our wedding. 10 of us stayed there and there was plenty of room for more. With four bedrooms and four bathrooms - you can't go wrong! We were amazed that the kitchen was FULLY stocked with everything we needed and more. The house was extremely clean and it is in a gorgeous location - the East side of Tucson on the edge of Saguaro National Park. Our house was the gathering place for friends and family during our wedding week, and it couldn't have worked out better. Every night we had anywhere from 15-25 people for dinner, drinks, games, etc. The home is so spacious and nice - everyone loved it. It was too chilly to use the pool, but we were in the hot tub every night and enjoyed the backyard during the day. The best part of the location is that it was so peaceful and quiet - stars by night, mountains by day - it's beautiful! And I can't say enough about the owner, Karine. She was wonderful to work with, very responsive, and very accommodating. And to top it off? We were welcomed to her home by a bouquet of flowers, bottle of champagne, and a bag of chocolates for our wedding! AMAZING!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH, Karine!!!"

  • Super comfy house will lots of space and privacy!

"We had a great time renting from Toby. Tom, the caretaker, met us at the house and answered all of our questions, even the silly ones and we were on our way! Our adult children met us in Tucson for Thanksgiving week. We had plenty of space for the 7 of us and 2 dogs. The yard is amazing with art work and cactus everywhere! Inside is fun and funky with antiques but not stuffy at all! We celebrated Thanksgiving here and had all we needed to cook the turkey along with about 7 sides and 2 desserts! I would totally recommend this site for its convenient location, privacy, and great chill atmosphere!"

  • Best Casita Ever!

"When my wife and I were looking for a place to rent for a couple of weeks in Tucson, we came across this casita. We immediately noticed that every single review was a 5 star review. I don't think we had seen that before and wondered if it was possible. The answer quite simply is YES!!! We have traveled extensively and have stayed in many casitas over the years and I can say quite convincingly that this is the best casita we have ever stayed in! Where to begin...First of all, Dave and Ro were great hosts. Very friendly, always helpful but we always had plenty of privacy. The pride of ownership is evident everywhere. Even the pictures don't do this casita justice. Very well designed architecturally, great artwork throughout the house and a real Southwestern feel. Very clean and very comfortable. Additionally, there is a big backyard, well landscaped, with a private sitting area right outside the casita door that has a grill, a nice table to eat at and two comfortable chairs for reading. We spent many hours outside reading in this serene environment. As an extra bonus, the location of the casita is great. We have stayed and vacationed in Tucson several times before but never in this NE part of town. We really, really liked this part of town. Removed from the hustle and bustle of central Tucson, the area has a nice rural feel to it yet we were just minutes away from major shopping centers. The views of the Santa Catalina mountains from this casita are stunning! Sabino Canyon Recreation Area is just minutes away as is Bear Creek Canyon. So the hiking was great. Also, there is a nice 2 mile hiking loop you can take right from the house that skirts the boundaries of a nearby destination spa. We ended up doing this 2 mile loop almost everyday we were here! Excellent hosts, a beautiful casita and a superb location...we'll definitely be back. This truly is a very, very fine house!"

  • Fantastic stay in an straight-out-of-a-magazine mid century architectural gem

"We had a wonderful stay with our family of 6 (4 adults / 2 kids 7 & 11). The vibe of the house was excellent - we loved the architecture, floor to ceiling windows, spacious rooms, and great views. We were fortunate to have perfect Tucson hot weather - a nice relief from the East Coast chill. The deck was nice to spend time out on, and the pool area was perfect for us - nice chairs and umbrellas under a cloudless sky. And pool time was great - we went in several times per day with the pool heated. Plenty of pool toys and lots and lots of towels which let us avoid having to constantly do laundry. The mid-century decor was perfect down to the details - Eames chairs and a great double-sized built in sofa in a living room with plenty of room for all of us to hang out. We loved the aesthetic of the desert landscaping and our kids got a kick out of seeing a few lizards scurrying around. The Foothills area where the house is located is a beautiful area not too far from everywhere. First time back in Tucson since college in the 90s, and the town has really grown and developed significantly. Excellent food shopping nearby down the road from the house at Bashas, and nice spa luxuriating at the Spa at Lowe's Ventana Canyon. Loved brunch at Prep & Pastry (hip & tasty). Downtown has grown in a major way - we enjoyed grilled cheese on an inside out donut with local beers and craft whiskey at Batch, yummy Poke and creative sushi at Obon, and a fun visit to the legendary Hotel Congress. Real deal Mexican Food at BK, and an enjoyable breezy night game of UofA Softball on campus. And oh yeah: In-N-Out Burger - because Double Double [Protein Style] (undeniable). Nice treats in the fridge upon arrival, and small house requests were easily and quickly fulfilled by Anne. We'd be happy to come back again!"
