  • Stunning, Spiritual, Sunny, Soothing, Spectacular- A Special Stay

"This beautifully decorated, perfectly clean and fully equipped detached home was the perfect place to enjoy comfort, tranquility, peace in the warm, wonderful climate of Tucson. It's more than a place to come home to, it feels like a resort itself. Light from the east poured into and filled the open living room and kitchen area from 9 windows or doors. High ceilings gave an added sense of openness, with no unit above. The three bedrooms are gorgeous, comfortable, new floors, restful and 2 full bathrooms updated and beautiful. Arizona nature is right outside the door, with a private patio and unobstructed views of wild desert and stunning mountains. Right behind the home is a paved "wash" that goes for miles, easy access to walking or biking. It was away from the city and felt very resort like, but an easy, quick drive back to town. There was a heavenly heated pool and hot tub with palm trees and a view of the mountains. It is near the Omni resort, a great location for eating out (or golfing.) The owner, Amany, was kind throughout and her spirit is evident in the special decorations that make this home unique. Thank you for sharing your incredible home!"

  • Loved it, loved it, loved it

"Now that we're settled back into our routine, I wanted to thank you for the wonderful stay we had at your house. It was so pretty and perfect for us. I loved the early mornings and early evenings with the gentle wind blowing, I would open the kitchen windows for a bit and listen to all the birds getting ready for their day or settling in for the evening or we would sit in the yard in the patio area. I enjoyed the little lizards that look like they're doing pushups and the Quails that would quickly run past you. We loved the quiet. We got to learn the roads and how to bypass getting on the interstate whenever possible. We even went to the farmers market downtown by the San Juan. That was fun..food, music, the Arizona pistachios that we love and some delicious honey and a memorable Sonoran sno cone. We went somewhere different every day and loved every minute we were there. We loved coming back to our lavender house in the desert. Again, thank you. This is a beautiful 3 bedroom house on 2 acres of desert property near Saguaro National Park West. It was Easy to navigate into the city. Property is spacious and clean. Very relaxing. Kitchen has everything and more that you could want, as do the linen closets and bathrooms. We would definitely rent this wonderful home again when we are in the area."

  • Perfect for Older Kids and Nature Lovers!

"This was "home base" for my 12-year-old and I for 7 nights in June. The location is wonderful, with grocery stores & restaurants 10 minutes away. Even better, there is nothing between Saguaro Park West and the home, allowing us to encounter wildlife we would not have seen otherwise. The gated neighborhood is very quiet, private, and secure, so I was comfortable leaving my son alone in the house while I hiked. For my son, the (incredibly clean) pool was his favorite part, it has deep section for diving. The pool table was a hit, too. Ron set us up with hundreds of digital movies, as well as Netflix access and more, so my son was never "bored." The internet in the home is very fast, reliable, and reaches well out into the yard and pool area. As for me, in the yard and immediate area I was able to see a family of javelina (with babies!), a kit fox, a coyote, and a pair of mule deer. A few hours after we left, Ron even sent us a photo of a bobcat he spotted right outside the house! There are resident Gambel's Quail, hummingbirds at the feeder, and every dusk a Common Poorwill gets a "fly-by" drink from the pool. You can park along the road leading to the home for a quick hike into the hills and washes. There are nice geological samples there, with an amazing variety. As some reviews have mentioned, the house is not perfect. It is not new construction, some of the furnishings and appliances are not brand new. However, at least when we stayed, the cost was the same per night as a single room at the Westin downtown - for a huge house with a quiet yard and a private pool, and the option to cook your own food. So while the fridge was missing some shelves and drawers, it kept our food and drinks cold. While the starters on the stove clicked the entire time you used the burners, it always started and worked fine. The beds were very comfy, the water pressure was great, and the AC never failed us. Some things need repair, some furniture may need replaced in a few years, but this is a popular rental in a popular area, and I am sure some renters are not as careful or conscientious as they could be. If you want the quality of the Peninsula Hotel, but the size of a huge house, you will need to look elsewhere - and expect to pay a great deal more. If you are looking for privacy, space, and comfort in a perfect desert setting, where you can cook your own food and wash your own clothes - at a very fair price! - this is it. Ron will take very good care of you."

  • This was the perfect place for our family gathering

"We stayed at Casa Amapola during the graduation week for University of Arizona. We needed a place where we could totally relax. We wanted comfortable indoor/outdoor living with spectacular mountain views - a quintessential Tucson desert experience. We found all that and more. Mark is a fantastic host and made us feel like the house was truly ours for the week. We highly recommend this beautiful desert retreat."
