  • Wonderful stay: charming, comfortable, convenient

"We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the casita, and it's location was perfect for exploring the historic neighborhoods, downtown Tucson as well as heading out to nearby canyons and parks for day hikes. The casita is very comfortable, cozy, thoughtfully decorated and and the kitchen is well equipped. We appreciated being able to make our own breakfasts (Joanna's scones are delicious!) and dinners. There is also a washer and dryer that came in quite handy! The casita is situated next to Joanna's house, and secure off street parking is provided in a driveway that is part of the garden surrounding the house. All in all, a great lodging experience!"

  • Amazing retreat with spectacular views

"This property has to be one of the nicest I've ever stayed at. With views that go on for miles and incredibly quiet and private accommodations, I can't think of one reason why I won't be back. The property is only about 10 minutes outside of downtown Tucson, but it seems miles away. It was the perfect place for me to have a personal retreat, but if I could've found 7 or 8 other people to come with we would have easily fit. Everything at the house is high-end, from the stainless steel appliances to the state-of-the-art whole house sound system that connected via bluetooth to my phone. It was great to be able to get up in the morning and see the sun come up over one side of the valley, and then in the evening, see the lights of the city brighten on the other side. I would sit out by the pool in the morning and drink my coffee (made via the Keurig next to the bed) and then in the evening I would sit at a table in front overlooking the city, and catch up on email. The house is also very centrally located. There's plenty to do nearby. I went to the top of Mount Lemmon a couple of times (about a 90 minute drive), visited coffee shops and restaurants downtown, and even took a quick trip to Tombstone. A good mountain biking/hiking path is just up the road. Grocery stores are also just about a 5 minute drive. Ron is a great host. He was quick to answer all of my questions, gave me great advice for what to see and do, and even showed me around his other properties. I didn't know much about Tucson before this trip, but now I can't wait to go again. Thanks for everything, Ron!"

  • Wonderful stay and a very welcoming home.

"We truly enjoyed our two weeks in Tucson. Tonya is wonderful to work with. This is our second stay here and the condo is more like a home in that it is very welcoming and has everything you need. It is very well located to all of the "sights" & very convenient to restaurants and stores. We will definitely stay here again!"

  • Delightful Diversion in the Desert

"Mr. McElwaine's deluxe casita at Starr Pass Resort was a wonderful vacation for us for the entire month of June 2016. Everything we needed for a relaxing getaway was provided, included a fully furnished kitchen, comfortable living room, tv's in each of the three rooms, and patio with outstanding view of the mountains. The location on the west side of Tucson is very convenient to most of the city and suburbs, and we were downtown or on the interstate in minutes - something you can't say about the other resorts we visited located on the north or east side of town. While wifi is not provided, we took the free Marriott shuttle several times up to the main resort and used the internet in the lobby or Starbucks. We also took advantage daily of the wonderful, large pool and exercise room mere steps from our door. A nice surprise was the appearance of a number of desert animals visible from our patio: javelinas, deer, coyotes, road runners and many types of birds. I appeciate the fact that the designers of the complex tried to leave the desert untouched which allowed the wildlife to exist as always in spite of the development. Dave, the owner, stopped in to check on us during our stay, giving us ideas on where to eat and what to see. His son, who lives in the vicinity, was helpful when there was a problem with the cable tv reception, and the problem was resolved quickly. The monthly charge for this 2 br, 3 ba condo was very competitive for the area and allowed us to enjoy a month here, rather than a week or two which had been our original plan. I would recommend this casita to any one of my friends looking for a long or a short stay in Tucson."
