  • Wonderful comfortable cabin.

"We had a wonderful time at the cabin. Inside is beautiful. Love the solid slab wood counter tops. The kitchen is fully stocked. Very secluded on a hillside view breathe taking views. Seems to be a place you think you are off the grid. Now for the parts we didn't care for- the cabin needs some up keep, mainly on the outside and the floor in the dining area. The gutters are falling off and the deck is going to need some attention soon. The deck boards are getting rotten and weak. The beds are fairly uncomfortable, me and my wife slept in 3 different ones and found the couch to be a more comfortable place to sleep. The big disappointment was the hot tub pictured was no longer there. I think the pictures need to be updated to show current conditions. Other than the little thing this was a great place to stay. Also the only place to ride atv's is on the dirt roads around the cabin. Beware that this place is surrounded by dirt roads. Very dusty but at the same time seem to be maintained well."

  • Great cabin with a view and an awesome back porch!

"Rusty and Nita have a great place here atop of Nebo. As most things on Nebo it's peaceful and quiet with plenty of deer around. Each day wouldn't have been complete without the daily visit from the road runner. We have little children so it was so nice that the cabin is furnished. Only things we brought to the cabin were clothes, food and drink. The rest is there for you to enjoy, relax and enjoy the view - including a few bicycles and an outdoor charcoal grill. You have a great view from both the living room couches and the back porch. No need to go over to sunset view as you get a great view of the sunset from the back yard of the cabin. Everything was clean and very well kept. You can tell Rusty and Nita take a lot of pride in the cabin. The extra touches like the handwritten welcome note and the instructions on how to work the tv/satellite/media player were nice. I think we enjoyed the back porch the most. Lots of chairs and a daybed to hang out and play games even after dark. Our family enjoyed it a lot. It is screened in too so you don't have to worry about any bugs or critters. Definitely hope to visit again! Thanks again to Rusty and Nita!"

  • Wonderful Cottage!

"Walking into the cottage immediately gives you a sense of peace. It is stocked with everything you would need (except for your own meals) for a wonderful stay. Down to the last detail such as flour, sugar, and even shampoo! Ed and Barbara have made it a true cottage "getaway." Barbara brings you homemade bread that is heavenly and their dogs that you meet are so fun. We had a last "hurrah" before school starts, as we are both in the educational field and made the absolute right decision in choosing this place. Hiking Mt. Magazine one day, antique and junk stores the other day made for two very full days. The scenery everywhere you walk or drive is beautiful. Barbara is lovely and inviting when you arrive and we wish we would have been able to visit with Ed too. Coffee on the porch in the morning is a "have to," and sitting for the visiting humming bird that got about two inches from my friend's face was very cool. You have to be read to drive on a dirt road about the last 5+ miles to get there and drive up in a field to the cottage. My little Honda Accord and her Camry made it just fine! I hope that we are able to use it again in the near future---it could become an annual ---it is THAT relaxing! Thank you Barbara for the conversation and the scrumptious bread and thank you Ed for the directions and communication to make the trip happen. It was wonderful."

  • Shoal Bay Cottage

"Peaceful and homely. There is a convenience store right up the road and a place that sell breakfast that is so much cheaper to pay them instead of cooking it ourselves for 6 people. The lake is less than 1/8 mile away and everybody there knows each other. It is also located right in the middle of 2 great state parks. Mt Magazine and Mt Nebo are equally the same distance away in either direction. So, you can stay at Shoal Bat Cottage and go to each state park and save money. Deer will also pass through the backyard while you are doing the BBQ. Also, I cut up fresh watermelon and it was eaten to the whrine by morning in the backyard."
