  • Perfect Family Retreat

"Our family (myself, my husband, our 8 and 6 year olds, my husband's mother, my husband's sister, and our teenage nephew) all spent three comfortable nights in this lake house over the New Year holiday. The adorable curb appeal of the house gave a great first impression. The entire front yard is paved, so there was plenty of parking. The caretaker, Mr. Sublette, was most welcoming upon our arrival. His wife had gone to the trouble of setting up a New Year's Eve welcome kit, complete with party hats and champagne! He lives close by and is available if you need any assistance with the house (we called him once with a question about the hot tub, and he came right over). We were pleasantly surprised to find a bonus "bunk room" for the kids, as I didn't notice it listed in the description. There's a twin loft bed and a toddler bed, both with linens provided, in the room. This gave us more sleeping options for the adults/teenager than we had anticipated. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with utensils, dishes, etc. They even had some pantry items such as paper towels, coffee filters, spices, and some condiments, etc. The living/ dining area was quite spacious and accommodated our crew nicely. The master bedroom featured a Tempurpedic mattress. My husband and I slept so comfortably we purchased at Tempurpedic a few days after returning home! Our favorite part of the home was the back deck, with it's several levels, featuring plenty of outdoor seating and dining areas, a swimming platform (which we used for fishing), a boathouse that looks like it can accommodate a boat and a personal watercraft, and a hot tub! If you aren't familiar with this lake/river community, It's important to know that in the winter, the water level is lowered so that docks can be maintained. This renders boat houses unusable for launching boats. However, the lower water level revealed a "shore line" that my children spent hours combing for shells and skipping rocks. I'm sure they would tell you that was their favorite thing about this house besides the "bunk room"! Overall I would highly recommend this house if you are looking for a informal, laid back, family getaway. There are several cosmetic issues that could use attention, like wall repairs that seem to be in the process of being fixed, lights that we couldn't figure out how to turn on, etc, but those issues would not keep me from recommending this house to families. It felt just like a home away from home!"

  • Family Get-together

"We had a family reunion at this property, with 19 people and rented out 3/4 units. It was a great experience and the stay was very comfortable. Excellent surroundings and very spacious cabin units. It had all the provisions, the kids loved the whimsical cabin. Booking and communication was very quick and easy. Some areas of improvement are the missing bathroom locks. Overall a very good hideout:)"
