  • AMAZING, magical house in the trees

"My husband and I just came back from spending 3 days and 2 nights at Mary's amazing house. I can't say enough about how special this place is. It is truly heaven on Earth!! Every detail about this property is pure love. We were spending our 25th anniversary there and I couldn't have asked for a more magical place to relax and connect. If I could give more stars I would, it was that great. We arrived to a sweet card and a bottle of wine from Mary. (side note for Mary: I would love to know the history about how the house was made because you can tell it was built with love and attention to every single part of the house, from doors to window frames, and all the eclectic pieces of art. WONDERFUL. We never tired of noticing another cool and unusual personal touch. Maybe a book with pics?) We brought food to cook and never got in our car the whole time. Not another soul or house around so you feel very private. We slept in the yurt one night, and the reading loft (that feels like you are in a tree house) the next. We loved the hot tub surrounded by the beautiful oak and pine trees. The bathroom that has floor to ceiling windows was beautiful. The kitchen was stocked with everything you need to cook wonderful meals. Our favorite spot was sitting outside under the full moon by the fireplace. There is even an outdoor shower overlooking the trees. There are birds and even deer that come and visit. Mary has a TV and videos but we didn't turn on electronics once while there. Just brought great music and danced under the moonlight. Feeling very blessed to have had the opportunity to experience this wonderful property. "Thank you Mary" is not enough. I will recommend to friends and family in the hopes that they too can experience this place. We will defiantly be returning in the near future. Jen and Craig"

  • Comfy and Peaceful Setting for a group gathering!

"20 of us spent our 33rd annual Ladies Weekend at Mesa Del Sol! It was a perfect place for the occasion. The grounds were immaculate, with many sitting areas scattered throughout the property to soak in a view, some shade or some outdoor cooking. The pool was refreshing, the spa overlooking the arroyo was fabulous and we had no issues with either. Sleeping 20 would have been tight without a few air beds as some of the beds are doubles as opposed to queens. There were plenty of extra blankets which came in handy. Lots to do including croquette and horseshoes. The Safari house was great! The time flew by even though we stayed on the property the whole time. Ann had a ramp installed for wheelchair access to the main house and it worked out just fine. Thanks Ann!"

  • 50th Anniversary

"What a marvelous destination for a 50th Anniversary!!! The Cabin is everything we had hoped it would be. Better than a cruise or Hawaii in our opinion. Friends smiled condescendingly when we told them that we had chosen an isolated cabin for our anniversary celebration. However, we have had the last laugh, and we would do it all over again. The welcome package of wine and snacks was certainly a nice, warm touch, and it is much appreciated. The cabin was well-stocked with all the necessities for cooking the food that we had purchased, including the spice rack. We had every pot, pan and utensil needed as well. The furniture was very comfortable, as was the bedding. All equipment was in great working order. And when we experienced a slight problem with the spa, Gail was ready, willing and able to rectify the situation –even though she had had an exceptional long day at her day job. She is amazing! We actually had planned to spend time away from the cabin to eat at Nepenthe and have an evening out, but the 180-degree views from the cabin surpassed any other place imaginable. So we stayed in and prepared our steaks on the patio with the BBQ. It probably exceeded anything that we would have ordered at a restaurant. And we were able to finish the evening counting the multitude of stars in the sky from the hot tub. Carol and I have loved Big Sur from the first moment we saw it in 1967. We have frequently visited the area, but never have enjoyed it quite so much as we have this visit. We know that a few people have complained about the traversing the road to the cabin, however, we view it as a means to maintain privacy and serenity that would not be available otherwise. The cabin with its beautiful gardens and views provided us with a slice of Big Sur Heaven that we had longed to possess. Thank you, and we will definitely return."

The location is filled with unparalleled serenity and beauty. All nature surrounds you as you are nestled in this fabulously designed, spotless cabin filled with beautifully appointed creature comforts, surrounded with tremendous majestic views of enormous redwoods and stream. We appreciated the exquisite calm and pure remote feeling offered. Thank you so very much. We cannot wait to return, possibly in a completely different season."
