"My wife and I, plus her sister and our brother-in-law, stayed for a week at the CV Fun Cottage and had a comfortable stay, with all the previous reviews being right on the mark with their comments. We especially liked sitting at the breakfast room table looking out over the river and foliage and having several meals there, not even thinking about going out after a busy day in the Valley, Carmel, or at the race track.
The two bedrooms are actually two masters with baths, never even went up to the bed in the loft over the den/dining area to check it out, no need for us. Bedding, kitchen supplies/equip, furnishings, bathroom fixtures/etc., were all more than could be asked for, all new, stylish, and very fresh. Spotless!!!!
I was a bit concerned when reading the reviews that they allowed dogs to stay as I am very sensitive to any animal odors, but I never detected anything and I have the capabilities of a bloodhound in that regard. Everything was so fresh and clean, no cleaning or perfume smells, just fresh air in the Valley all day.
We would highly recommend the Cottage for anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful stay, with close proximity to the Valley Centers and to Carmel/Monterey, but there is no local nightlife for those younger or seeking this, guess the Baja Cantina is the closest place if interested which is down the Valley Road about 10 min.
The neighbors are close, but you never hear anyone and it seems like the area has a number of weekend places as we rarely saw anyone out and around, but you feel like this is a tight little community as you drive through. Those we did see were very friendly and welcoming, like we belonged there with a quick wave and a "hi".
Erica was great on communications, although everything is spelled out clearly in their little binder, with no great "demands" as with some owners, just a few subtle notes to help keep the place as you found it and to make things easier for the next guest.
We are coming back next year, or sooner, best stay for us in 38 years of coming to the Carmel/Monterey area annually in August. Surprisingly, there was plenty of water in the river with this drought we are in, with ducks and deer every morning and evening, not sure how Erica arranged that part of the stay, but thank you."
